How do I order pets to harvest materials?

I looked, I asked in game, I played around a bit, I cried tears of frustration!

Just set them to wander in the vicinity of something they can gather, ie, set a doedicurus on wander near rocks and it'll start smacking them into pieces until you tell it to stop or it runs out of rocks to hit.

set it to wander amd make sure its not on follow, only works with some dinos.

Direbears also harvest fiber when on wander
Beavers harvest wood on wander
Mesophitecus (tiny monkey) harvests berries on wander.

and the monkeys, they will autonomously collect berries :)

just make sure you put them in a fenced off area, don't want them wandering off into the jaws a rex or something.

Actually you dont have to put them on wander you just have to place them next to harvestable resources and they will do that just not as much as with wander but you dont have to have a pen for them that way

i would of laughed if this was a nercro'd thread back from when there were only two dinos

Just put next to a rock spawn and will gather till it gets 50% its weight.

Stegos and trikes cannot gather things on their own.
Only way to have these two collect things (berries) is by mounting them and "attacking" a cluster of bushes.

Edit: same goes for all the other dinos (except the 5 specifically mentioned above)
