Need help with Saved Paints for my private server.
My boyfriend and I have been playing for a bit now, we own our private server and that's where we started out. But it wasn't until a friend of mine got me to join the public server he enjoyed playing on that I got into painting. He taught me how to download templates and use them in-game and a friend I met on the server taught me how to free-hand paint, as well. But, here I am back on my private server. We've wiped it and starter anew with some different mods. I'm ready to do less important things, such as painting. Got my paintbrush out, just mass produced a ton of paint, smack my beaver (huehue) with it, hit Load Paints of This Type, and nothing comes up. Of course, I've been Googling and hoping to find a solution. I know there's a way to make the saved paints work here, I just can't seem to find it anywhere. The person who originally got me into the game is in bed and, being the super impatient person I am, I want my answers ASAP, so I can't expect them from him. Can anyone instruct me on how to move the MyPaintings files around so that they'll work on my private server? Thank you :)

Your saved paints has nothing to do with your character or server since they are stored locally.
They must be in this folder to work(might be different path if you are running a different OS or if you have installed Steam in a different folder)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\MyPaintings\

The fantastic thing about this is that they ARE in that folder, but are only showing up on the Official Public Server. Not the Unofficial Private Server. Why is this?

They should show up. Strange.
Beats me.
Try joining another private server and see if they show up. I have a server you can try it on where I can spawn in the stuff for ya.

@|SE|prome, we're getting ready for bed, now. I tried contacting the guy that got me into the templates, but his pc is down for the count for a bit. If I can't get any answers from anyone who knows why this is happening, maybe we can try to do the thing on your server. I can't imagine one of my mods causing me to have problems with templates, so hopefully it's not that. Nighty night.

copy the paintings from your saved folder into the dedicated servers saved paintings folder which is saved here:

(Drive):\Ark\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArks\ServerPaintingsCache\TheIsland

server should be stopped and or restarted after this.

Why does this need to be done? Before we wiped the server, one of our friends was able to use templates without having to go through that. We never reset the server for him. Did something change?

Also, I put copies of the MyPaintings templates here and nothing has changed. :(

That doesnt do anything. Paintings are local, not serversided. After you have used a template, the dino that you painted gets stored on the server.

@Malice
Make sure the files are in the right directory,
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\MyPaintings\
and start a singleplayer game. Dont use any mods in SP! Spawn in the dyes and a brush and try if that helps. The only reasonable I can think about is that you have some mod on your private server that creates an conflict - even though that seems unlikely. But try doing this in SP, if it works there, my guess is right.

Also, feel free to list the mods you are using.

@|SE|prome, Well, I'm pretty sure you're right. It has to be one of the mods. Got on Single Player and could see the templates just fine. Most likely Annunaki Genesis? I guess I have to sacrifice my love for painting, because if I remove any of our mods, it's going to ruin the fun for everyone else who plays on my server. Anyway, here's the list of mods we use:

Annunaki Genesis
Seven's Mod Kit
Death Helper
Kibble Vending Machine
Armored Storage Stands
Pillars Plus
Ark Advance 9.2
No Collision Structures
Cute Hair
Temp Building Mod
Pimp My Dino
Metal With Glass Set
PG's Dragon Gods
StackMeMore
Stargate Atlantis
Improved Spyglass v1.13

Update, boyfriend can use the templates but I can't...

[Edit]

So, he went through all my subscribed mods and removed everything that I had downloaded, but weren't in use on this server. It didn't fix it. But I found out that canvas templates show up fine, but not dinosaurs or players.

I could understand if it wouldn't work on the BA animals, or the alphas or whatever. But the animals I'm trying to paint are just regular old Ark creatures. The beaver is just a beaver. But the templates, when I attempt to paint these creatures, will not show up. I'm losing my mind. At least I know I can decorate my canvases though >.<

Copy all the templates out. Delete it. Validate game. Copy back.

If doesnt work then try making a new survivor.

We found a way around it. Okay, so basically, whichever mod it is (Seven's or Annunaki) that reworked the creatures on the island, they changed some kind of coding thingy I don't understand because hurrdurrdurr I'm not educated in these things. So, what my boyfriend did, and taught me to do just now, is to go to each of the creatures I'm wanting to paint, make a random saved paint (We named ours TESTBEAVER and such, so we could find it easily).

Once the paints are saved, we can go to the folder and see what the difference is in the title of the saved file. Copied the difference, such as _Child_GNS_ which is on most of the non-BA creatures (like the beaver), and placed it between BP and C in each title. So, for example;

horde2_dodo_character_bp_Child_GNS_c.pnt

I did this to everything I wanted to paint, so far. Now, the annoying thing is that with the BA creatures, each one has an element. Mountain, Toxic, whatever. I attempted to make copies of the same files and name them MOUNTAIN or whatever but it wouldn't let me copy and rename the copy without it automatically renaming the original that I had renamed before. Hopefully, you're able to follow me with this. The good news is that I tamed them for their BA appearances anyway (i.e. my raptors), so I don't have a desire to apply a template to them. I'm thinking, if I ever wanted to, I could download the same templates and rename them each seperately, but I haven't tired it yet. Maybe later.

Now, if I decided I wanted to paint stuff on the public server and use the same templates, I could go ahead and just redownload each template and leave it as is, and be able to use them as I please.

But yeah, one of my mods is definitely the cause for my troubles. I, at least, have painted my beaver to look like a bunny rabbit to match the ears that she has on her head. I just wish that it didn't have to become so complicated.
OMG i just found this not a minute after I did the same thing and figured out the change in naming convention of the files with extinction installed on the server... But it's good to know this information IS out there! Thanks Kintsugi.

No problem! I'm glad that it can help someone else :)
