Downloads and installations cache
Greeting everyone. I recently downloaded ARK and played for a bit until the huge update yesterday and i left it to update overnight, woke up and found out that it says not enough disk space but my D drive (game installed here) was not even close to full and should be able to accomodate the files. It turns out that all the files has been caching on my C drive (steam installed here) which is running out of space and it makes it frustrating cause i cant update my game and had to delete a lot of other games and apps to let the cache download there. In addition , the cached files then has to be moved to the D drive after downloaded and written all again thus making everything hours long. This is not only a question but a suggestion post as it sucks for users like me to have to wait an entire day just to see it say that i don't have enough space just for caching update files on a drive that don't have anything to do with the folder that the game is installed on.If anyone know how to deal with this do let me know Thanks.

I find my solution to be deleting the specific ark downloaded folders in (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading) and just letting it update for a long time and after finishing the update just verify game files and seems to work. Not sure if its the right solution but in the end it worked.

I believe reinstalling steam to the D drive will fix your problem.

The easy approach would be using junction in windows to relocate the cache folder. Then you dont need any reinstall
