Proper night darkness?
Hi. I initially played single player of this game (on Island map) until I got the basics down, then I joined my friend's MP server (on Centre map). However there was a major difference in the 2 experiences regarding night time. When I played SP, at night it was PROPER dark. I mean I could not see a thing without a touch at night, couldn't even see the tree I was cutting down right in front of my face. However on my friend's server, at night it never got "properly" dark. The darkest it got was a kind of dark azure blue - World of Warcraft "pretend night" if you get what I mean. I could still see quite easily without a torch, even in thick forest.

So why this difference? Is the maps? ARe there seasons? Full moon effects? My friend told me the night time I saw was as dark as his server ever got.

It might sound funny, but it is important to me that night is properly dark, as it adds a great deal to the game.

Thanks.

Join the club, thecenter map is way less dark than the original, it sucks, map was probably build by someone afraid of the dark. :D, or a juvenile who never has seen real darkness(city kids)

To clarify from the server end here, the server is running The Center map, and there are no settings/mods server-side that would or should affect this - night/day length are default values, etc.

I played 2-3 months ago on The Island map with someone else before running this server and noticed that both of us saw very different night times. My night time was the lovely late-evening Ghostlight is describing and theirs was almost pitch darkness, asking me "where are you?" when I'm jumping up and down 20 feet away from their face. That person is also able to see quite clearly now as that "problem" seems to have been resolved.

Since this is a private server, and all are in favour of a darker night time, is there anything that can be done server-side to enforce this?
