Trophy stand won't accept trophies?

So I started a fresh game in single player on The Center, and I won't bore you with the details but there was a high-level Bronto that was causing me trouble by stomping around my base and I finally attacked it despite clearly inferior firepower. Huge battle ensues, I won but lost a Pteranodon, two Dimorphodons, a Dodo, and three Dilos. It was a lot of fun.

I figured I should commemorate the event with a gravestone, so I placed one and named the fallen. Then I realized I received a Sauropod Vertebra from the bronto and the description says "This trophy proves your worth as a hunter" or somesuch. So I thought it fitting to place a trophy stand next to the gravestone to display the Vertebra.

But the trophy stand won't accept it. I know there are a whole different sort of trophy that can be had, we have a big t-rex skull hanging above the door of our base on my server, but if the description of one item says "trophy" and another is named "trophy stand", I just feel like they should be usable together.

That's for the relics found inside caves. the wooden wall trophy mount is for skull trophies you get from alphas.

There might also be the Broodmother head still, don't know if that still drops. The Dodorex mask is another trophy as well.

It really is confusing when you receive something described as a "trophy" that doesn't fit on a "trophy mount". It's a poor choice of words by the game maker.

you can't display the body parts of dinos on anything, only the relics from caves on those stands and alpha rex/boss trophys on wall mounts

I know, right? Or Megalodon teeth in the armory or whatever.
