The island vs The center Fps/performance
On the island my FPS has never been great, but recently I have found the performance worse than ever. I have a base with many dinos and I get frame drops so low it takes a lot of enjoyment out the game. It wasn’t always like this but after the last patch I’m noticing significant frame drops and lag. On a good day there will be a maximum of 15 - 20 players online.

I have started a new game on the center and immediately I found the performace much better – same game settings – now im enjoying nice fluid gameplay with fps of 40 – 60. It isn’t uncommon for over 90 players to be online.

What are other players experiences between the two maps… is the center optimized better?
Or is it all down to the server map being relatively new with less player built structures/dinos?

Play on mostly high settings at 1080p

In singleplayer the difference between maps is notable. The Center runs a lot fine than The Isle in every way. I don't know in multi.

the center runs a little better due to lower LoD (stuff pops up in front of you) and partly use of -sm4 (collectable resource simply vanish)

I get between 40-50 fps on Center and 25 to 30 on the island. (single player)
Don't experience any pop ups but I have increased the amount of objects that can be shown at once.

I'v noticed that too. As soon as I got on the center, (single player), it seemed so much smoother even on higher end graphics.

For me The Center runs a lot smoother too.

Thanks for the replies. So seems like the center just has better optimization. Perhaps the devs should take the lod and sm4 mentioned above and apply it to the island as the default setup. Surely they must be considering this?

For the center map to perform better even though it's alot bigger means there must be obvious changes to be implemented on the island map that will improve performance across the board

Ppl keep failing to understand that the center have way like way way less resources than the island so = better fps if you look around you will understand what i mean.

Slightly off topic:would the scorched earth map run Way more smoother then both of these due to there being barely any trees?
