Electrical Cables destroyed through structures
Hi guys,

Someone woefully attempted to raid our base yesterday armed with nothing more than themselves and a rex. Needless to say, they lost. But not before destroying a couple of electrical cables inside our metal walls and consequently knocking out 3 turrets.

Seems like a bit of a flaw that a dinosaur is able to destroy stuff inside buildings.. and in particular electrical cables, given they are a metal structure I would have thought they would be immune to dinosaur damage...?

Anyone else had anything like this before? Any chance of a patch devs?

I would think it'd be funnier if a Rex can't damage something only about as thick as human arm even if it's metal wires. It would at least bend and dislocate it if not completely tear it in pieces... but that is weird. Things aren't normally damaged if something is attacking across the wall.. it did happen to me once when a Spino could bury all the way inside and attack to start damaging things and get shot by turrets that were inside, but that was long time ago

Well yes, electrical cables shouldn't be attackable through walls (without breaking the wall first), but surely it's reasonable that a Rex should be able to chomp through electrical cables! They are metal, because, well... what electrical cable isn't?

I know its reasonable that a rex should be able to chomp electrical cables, my point is more referring to the fact that they were inside my base and the rex was outside, yet was still able to destroy them by sticking its head through the wall.

I was also seeking clarification if electrical cables were considered to be a metal structure, which would make them immune to dino damage.

I've had this happen with smithys and stuff on platform saddles before, but this is the first time something inside my main base has been destroyed by a dinosaur. More annoying than anything else.

the pathing is so messed up. A dino underneath a solid object sticks out THROUGH the object so it can damage things through solid objects without damaging the object. Watch them swim through a solid pier with their head sticking up through the top of the solid wood where they then attack dinos and objects above the solid pier floor.

early access.... bad developers.

Yes, so I confirmed the second point. Cables are not considered metal structure in the same way metal walls are. And to the first point, it's a bug. I've had beetles killed through walls, fridges destroyed through walls, etc. Usually stuctures are safe if they're far enough inside though. ie. not touching the wall. But certainly this aspect of the game bugs out.
