Mantas seem a bit aggressive and if they eat plankton, then what the heck.... but the waters aren't dangerous enough IMO. Megaladons need to be able to attack you, more creatures etc

What do you mean if they stun you? Manta rays don't stun you... Sometimes when in a group, they will glitch through you and make you unable to move but they don't have a stun effect normaly.
are you sure? cause the first one hit me and i could not move. so i dont know lol

technically mantas should be passive like the rest of the veges unless provoked.
i think this is more of a concept glitch - yeah great to have another water enemy...but passive mantas not a good avatar for this genra.
Make the manta passive and add in a mean Anomalocarids or better yet a Dinichthys - these armoured fish fit the bill much better.

I had a lvl 147 spino and decided to swim to the next island
About 10m from the beach i get stuck and cant move at all from one stupid little manta ray
who decided to get stuck inside me so i cant attack it, Then i see an army of just bad come swimming up to me (5 megeldons 8 manta rays)
Spino fought valiantly but got overwhelmed

So yea manta rays need to not be able to deadstop a creature 20x the size of it
(infact all the collisions need a good overhaul)
As for agression they should attack if something attacks them or gets to close
Not attack anything that falls in the ocean

mantas need to be taken out of the game until they're fixed sufficiently that they are no longer skull****ing all the enjoyment out of the ocean biome.

I don't mind most broken dinos, because mostly you can just not tame/interact with them if they're not working well. But the mantas are screwing up a whole biome.

i dont know if you ment this but if you get to close to one adfter a couple of seconds he will attack, like the gigantopithicus (idk if thats how you spell his name but im talking about the ape)
Part of the manta problem that eludes a lot of people, because mantas came in while they were already established, is what a catch-22 they make of trying to get into the water. If you already have high-level megalodons, or maybe a plesiosaur or mosasaur, and maybe a box with a bunch of angler gel somewhere, mantas are just a pain but you can avoid them or deal with them. But if you don't have any of that stuff yet, and you're out to tame your first sea creatures, mantas make it crazy hard to do the tame, and even harder to keep the tame alive. And you can't just make a manta your first sea tame to get around that problem, because you can't get angler gel in quantity to tame it without already having sea tames. One of a few ways the game developers are imbalancing the game by building for the people who've been in EA all along rather than for those coming to it now, or at release.

I wasnt a huge fan of the Manta's until I tamed one. Holy S*** their awesome.

It's a frikkin jet ski!!
I will never use an Itchy again for quick pearl diving etc..

The Manta is way faster
Zero Turn
Lethal Attack
Fun as hell to ride
Can even give people a lift if they stand behind you (just dont get crazy or it dumps them)

Down side is the low HPs
I built a 4x4 box with railing as walls, hatch ceilings, and dino gate to trap and tame him with.

I made the mistake of thinking bug repelent would keep him off me as I fed him. It was lvl 100 and it was like trying to passive tame a alpha rex. Little bastards can strike hard. Would break my scuba tank with first or second shot everytime.

If you havent yet , try one out . Just have low HPs so no tanking Mosa's but still fun.

I don't know if the rays are stupid but the sharks are, for sure. My lvl 120 shark on official just died to four manta rays just because it is slow and ran out of stamina. Couldn't run from them. It's a weak dino now and it's gonna go the way the carno went.

It's a shame. It's supposed to be the most glorious monster fish on the history books. But in this game it may as well be a Great White or a Tiger Shark.

I had a shark for one day on the new server. Well, half a day. They aren't fit for that ocean, I don't think so. It's too hard to farm for meat. The shark has a terrible bite (you have to position the fish underneath the nose just right), misses everything, the fish you do bite fly away and you don't get the meat, it's super weak when it does bite, then... can't swim fast, can't maneuver to get away. So it can't really farm for meat well and it can't run. It's a dependent, subpar dinosaur nowadays.

Manta Ray.. they're new. They always make new things OP so you want them and then after the novelty wears off, they'll probably nerf them.

Their supposed to be passive unless provoked that is peoples gripe. They are not they are very aggressive and swim to you even if you try to swim away. I kill them with a beaver. Beaver rules the sea.

Wild mantas fast? What?
I can escape a manta with my level 18 shark that runs out of stamina after swimming for about 20 seconds. The mantas just slowly drift behind me. I know tamed ones are super quick, but I can't say that for the wild ones.
