Fish meat tames twice as fast as normal meat, with the same quantity and same effectiveness [UPDATED]

Just did some testing on Fish Meat (and Prime Fish Meat) vs. regular meat.

• Dinos eat the same quantity of fish meat vs. regular meat.
  
• Taming effectiveness is the same as regular meat, since they eat the same amount of food.
  
• Fish Meat and Prime Fish Meat fills 25 Food on a taming dino, in comparison to 50 for Raw Meat / Raw Prime Meat.
  
• This means that taming is twice as fast.

In summary, fish meat appears to be twice as fast with no downfalls. (other than the fact that you have less time to hunt for Prime if you don't have enough -- though Fish Meat spoils slower so that's less of an issue).

(Disclaimer: I haven't done testing on all creatures, but the ones I tested all had the these results.)

EDIT (Patch v240.3)

In v240.3, changes were made to Fish Meat. Here's what I found:

• Fish meat speeds are slightly slower than regular meat. Fish meat is 80% of the speed of regular meat
  
• As the patch notes said, food value did not change. It's still 25 whereas regular meat is 50.
  
• Quantity needed is 2.5x regular meat. Since quantity is so high, taming effectiveness goes down *significantly*.
  
• Raw Prime Fish Meat is slightly better than Raw (non-Prime) Meat in regards to effectiveness, and is significantly quicker to tame with. (About 2.4x faster)

So.... what exactly is the point of fish meat and why would we bother with it for anything? It sounds like prime fish might have a use, but regular raw fish seems fairly worthless.

...and had this been the end of the development cycle, I would agree. However in alpha I am guessing that this will become useful in some clever, unforeseen way. We will just have to wait and see...

It will eventually. They're going to add the Baryonyx, which is a fish-eating Dino. When they release it, the Spino will also prefer Fish Meat.

In a survival game, anything making it easier to tame dinos is not non-pvp/raid.

part of an early access game is to help report bugs and glitches.

Fish meat will probably have a use in the future. Land carnivores prefer raw meat, it makes sense to me *shrug

i can see a wolf prefering a nice meaty deer flank compared to a hunk of fish

Not that Dan needs any back up (he is the expert...) but yea, this. They already said what the intention of fish meat is in the future, at least in part. Some Dino will prefer it, some won't.
