How does one utilize the Lystrosaurus?

Hi folks

Tamed one of these guys, saw on the wiki their XP effect is only 3-4 tiles, and their quite slow. So how does one utilize these little fellas?

Also the wiki states: "Experience Boost only appears to apply to tamed dinosaurs and does not affect the player." !?

I ended up taming 3 of them and have one by each set of dinos that way they will all get the xp boost as for slow tamed they have 300 speed well mine do and they tamed to 20-24.

Then its a case of going up petting it and then it gives the boost then you just need to remember to go keep petting them to keep getting the boost.

Do you mean by your dinos that just stands there in the base? i.e the passive XP all tamed dinos get?

I just found my first Lystro', does anyone know if the benefits stack and if the level is important at all?

Shared xp, if a tribe mate is in the area and is on a dino they will get a little of the xp. Hardly any tbh but every little helps when you've got a dino thats 2 levels from being capped lol.

I don't think it gives xp if you don't pet it tho, petting it every 5 minutes is super unrealistic so seems useless.

The only thing I can imagine it useful is for leveling dinos with two players, when one player kills an alpha and another one hovers with a petted lyco grabbed by a bird.
It might be usefull for passive gains if the buff would remain, but with a 5 minute duration it does not really help if you're offline or not at the base.

Ye that and if 1 guy sits on a Dino and the other crafts stuff

I expected it to be like the ovi, tame 5 spread them around the dino pen and everything gets more passive xp

Well this pet seems very underwhelming personally.

use them to boost passive xp gain on dimorph army prior to taking them out for "work". 3.5 tile sphere. does not stack. 0.2-0.3 xp per tick compared to 0.1 without boost.

oh, also, the re-use E on them is not static, the time to re-use is somewhat randomized.
