Dire Bears
Don't you think they are too op? And way too many? One attacked my trike (lvl 30) and I tried to save it with my carno(lvl 23)... It killed us both, after this a member of my tribe tried to kill it with a tamed dire bear and it killed that too. And it wasn't even a very high level (lvl 32).

nope they are fine. they are like a small t-rex but can easily killed (sadly killed a lv111 bear with tranq-arrows).

i agree on the too many bears part, because i walk out my base and i see 6 or 7 just strolling around. they don't attack you unless you intentionally touch them, so i guess it's a fair warning. but, i realize the game isn't exactly going for realism, but i mean, if you got hit by a bear with a swipe attack, it'll pop your head right off (if this is a grizzly bear, which is what we can compare the dire bear to) so i mean, the damage isn't far off. but, is it too much for the game? yea, it's just a game, not following realism, i think the damage should be lowered a little. but it all depends on what the devs are going for, pure strength of what the short faced bear actually did, or pure strength of the bears we see today. (as i say again, modern day grizzly bear.)

They deal as much damage as a rex. Either these furry phiomias are op or the rex is underpowered. Probably the rex is weak since almost all the freshly released dinos could kill a rex in 1v1.

I have a pack of 8 bears not that I use as bodyguards in dangerous places like swamps and I love the OP beasties. :)

I think it's pretty unbalanced overall since you could kill rex after rex with a well trained terror bird, which is essentially a big dodo with a sharp beak.

Yeah they are ridiculus and i love it ^^
They´re as strong as a rex, incredibly fast and can carry huge amounts of stuff.
To top that off they can eat everything and only take a fracture of the space a rex or spino does.
There is no need for anything else then a bear anymore, at least in pve.

yeah. they should replace them with butterfly's.

seriously? it's a survival game but every time someone dies in a video game, they cry for a nerf. I don't get it.

Doedicuris, Beaver, Flying mount of choice, maybe fish of choice. I can't imagine bears swim very well.

a rhino well skilled on stamina is realy op but funny as hell, i like bears, they are strong but fairly friendly if you dont come to close. just stay away and enjoy there lazy walking.

They are horrible swimmers and aren't terribly good at killing megapiranhas that aggro them. Rexes will always have a spot in my ground caravans for the prime meat farming and the ability to stomp down trees.

MY ISSUE ISN'T THAT THERE ARE TO MANY OF THEM OR THEY ARE TO STRONG BUT HOW HARD IT IS TO KNOCK THEM OUT WITHOUT KILLING THEM ON OFFICIAL SERVER

IS THAT NOT ABSOLUTE BS THOUGH?

Too many? Me and my friends have a really hard time finding any, much less high level. (I know they spawn mostly in the south)

I'd like to weigh in here. I had my first encounter with a Dire Bear yesterday, and righty after I searched this forum for an OP discussion.

A level 20 Dire Bear spawned near my base in the Southern part of the ARK. I was not aware of this until I heard a huge clamor start up out side my house. By the time I came out, the thing was attacking my animals. (I have no fence, never needed one.)

I had 2 Dilos, a Parasaur level 26, A Trike level 70, a Carno level 17, A Turtle Level 34 and a Spino level 29.

That lone Dire bear killed EVERY animal except the Trike and the Spino by it self, and the Trike had like 100 hit points left..... 7 to 1

Yes. Dire Bears are a bit OP...

I think the power is ok, rexes and spinos need a buff imo.
And regarding the amount..depends on which map you play, on the island there are only a few bears wide spread. On the center they are everywhere, almost more than dilos lol ^^
I´m sure they´ll balance this soon enough.
