Want to move large base to new location
Alright, I currently live on the Western Coast North end. As I unlock more engrams to craft, resources are bare in the beach. I plan to move more inland. I looked at the island map at the wiki, and found a nice place at the Smugglers Pass. Problem is, that's on the other side of the island, and I have large dinosaurs (listed below). From the Western Coast to Smugglers Pass is forest and lush greenery, unless I go around. I feel this would be difficult, as in early-game I moved from the Footpaw to the Western Coast. Any ideas? I have (a):

  • 2 Brontos
  • A Phiomia (for farming)
  • Quetzal, Pteranedon, Argentavis
  • Dilos and Dodos (kibble farm)
  • Parasaur (early-game)
  • Rex
  • Ankylo
  • Doedicurus
  • Paracer

These are the following dinos I plan to bring on the voyage.

I also have HUGE quantities of items I need to transport. Full refigerators and storage chests.

I am doing the same thing.I am moving from the far south to the far North. I have resigned myself to having to take the brontos and paracers overland. All the other dinos, I plan on moving on raft platforms.

Build a quetz platform you can transport all your dinos except the paracer and Brontos it'll take a few trips but it'll still be faster then land travel

Level 77, getting to quetz platform, but don't have it just yet. Is there Solution #2? Also do you recommend beach travel, or inland travel? Inland would be faster but more dangerous.

build a big raft platform, that should get a few at a time on it, do you have the big raft mod?

If your map is the island, i wouldnt worry too much it wont take too long to travel back and forth

Build a platform on one of your Brontos. Individually set your fliers to follow it. Have your second bronto follow as well. Place every really small critter on the bronto platform. Have your Rex follow the bronto. Ride the ankylo or doedic - and crush every rock in the way on your journey to your new home. Before you go, whistle passive on everyThing, but manually turn your Rex back to neutral. Pack as much as you can in one go - then return with your quetzal to do the tear down and haul the remainder.

Like the idea :D. Do you have any ideas for the perishables? (meat, berries, eggs, consumables, etc.)

If you don't mind using mods, i would suggest downloading the the stargate mod, build stargates at your current and new base. Transport your troops. Then you can unistall the mod if ya don't like it. Other than that its the long dino train or quetz plateform move.

quetz the smaller then have the rex and two brontos on foot. they are big enough to defend themselves and easy enough to walk.

Build preserving bins either on rafts or platforms to preserve the items or set up fridges at your new base and move the items on your quetzal quickly so they don't spoil.

Two bases. It's not like you can't fly across the island in 5 minutes...

Ok, so you're saying bringing all my dinos overland to the new site will take 5 minutes? Highly doubt it.

Try to skirt the ice biome. If you go all the way around it on the beaches you'll run into a lot of direwolves.

I'm confused by your question. Do you already have the new base built? If so, use the quetzal to fly all the dino's it can lift to the new base along with your materials. The large dinos you obviously just have to walk. If the base isn't built yet, build it first, by that time you should level up enought to be able to make the quetzal platform saddle which will make it just that much easier. This seems pretty obvious to me.

I think he's saying just keep two bases because you can fly from one to the other in five minutes. But I think that's a bit dismissive since you can't have all the materials and equipment in both, and you can't easily haul what you need for any given thing you're doing, in five minutes. But it might be a good stopgap until you can get that quetzal platform saddle.

you can connect 4 rafts all togther
