Dedicated Server Question:
So, I found out that my computer is good enough to host a dedicated server for a small group of friends- When we start there, we start at level one, a fresh character, etc, following all the rules and settings that I've selected - So do I have to keep the CMD lookin' window up the entire time I host it? Also, if I ever close that and the server stops being hosted and goes away, does everyone's character data get erased to (will we all have to start over again from level 1?)

First yes you have to keep the command looking window running, that is the ark server. If you close that it kills the server.

And secondly, the server does auto-saves every so often to save your progress. I think the default is every 1 hour that the server us running.

But you can use the admin password and gain admin access by doing this:

Press Tab to bring up console (in game, while logged in to server) ->

EnableCheats <password-here> without <>'s

Then: cheat SaveWorld forces a world save at any time. Like if you're just about to shut down for the night you can do SaveWorld before you leave to make sure it saves your progress.

Thank you for the information! I just downloaded a server manager which assists with a lot of the in-game stuff, like auto save period and whatnot. I'm just happy to know if I close the server that my character will still be there!

Yes! the server manager is a godsend! It makes it all easy and awesome. I would suggest finding and at least increasing the tame speed to 5x or 7x or so. The default tame speeds are atrociously long 16 hours for a max level bronto and some 40 hours for breeding a upper level quetzal. Definitely bring those down a lot.

Agreed, for some of us who don't have hours and hours at a time to sit in front of the screen, or a dozen+ people they WANT to play with at all times, faster taming speeds are nice haha I like 7.5 or 10 when I'm running low on play-time!
