So if its not harvesting obsidian there is a promblem.
http://ark.gamepedia.com/Obsidian
Read here on the wiki:
"Please note that the Doedicurus is not able to gather obsidian from all of the typically black glossy rocks. For instance, it can gather obsidian from the rocks in the caldera of the volcano on The Island map, but not from the rocks on the last part of the way up to the caldera. On The Center map it can't gather from the rocks on the shores of the lake under the floating island or in the mouth of Skull Island."
Make sure if you are using Doeds for this, that you are mining the correct rocks with them.
This is why everyone suggests you use Ankylo instead, they have no such restrictions and can mine all Obsidian nodes everywhere, and thus are "Better" at it for this reason, not the harvest rate.
Like I said in the above post... just use an Ankylo, they always mine all the obsidian everywhere all the time.
1800+ % damage dinos were the norm, and actually, part of the game and how it actually originally worked for the first.. 16 months of release actually. The devs made a change and "nerfed" the dinos down to -60% less damage overall.
But anyway it's not "Cheating" and "Outlandish settings" that's what we had, normally, in the vanilla game, and everything was finy and hunky dory before.
And I never said it was cheating, and "outlandish" is just an adjective I'm using based on personal opinion - as I said, theer's nothign wrong with it, just that not everyone does play with those settings, which have a huge effect on things like using a doed compared to an anky in certain situations. Playing on a server with increased gather rates can often make it more viable to use an anky for obsidian, but playing on a server with "official" rates, you want to use whatever you can to make the most of it.
