why are bolas not reusable ???
so bolas are a great way of catching 2 legged animals for hunting or tameing but in realife you could recover them and reuse them so why not in ark ??? i mean all it needs is a way to repair it thought it would be as bad as a slingshot with derablity

There is a method for recovering arrows when you run over an area where your shot landed from a miss or a dino you shot, I often get back a normal arrow after tranqing something. No reason they couldnt use that same function for bola's but it shouldnt be something that is reusable like an axe and just stay in invetory since you need to throw it.

I think spears can be recovered same way as arrows after thrown also.

Because it would require an extra line of coding, and you can't get a decent tan while coding, can you?

First off, they are so cheap to make, repairing or recovering them is a bit overkill. However, you can recover bolas if you do it before killing whatever it is you bola'ed. If you run up to the animal, you will get an option to remove the Bola. But the animal will run away.

I was under the impression that you can in fact remove the bola, which frees the target, but does not put the bola back into your inventory. Is that incorrect?

There's a mod that adresses that.

Well, because a bola is essentially just rocks and some fiber to tie them together, and it should be assumed that the fiber would be damaged while the animal struggles to escape making it useless. What I'm saying is you would be retrieving rocks, sorta pointless.

Just like arrows are just stone attached to stick and it should break on impact or when you try to retrieve it, yet you can.

Yes and no. The fiber is meant to restrain the animal, if you use damaged fiber to restrain something it won't work very well or even at all, the point of an arrow (point ha!... I'm really sorry for that...) is to cause damage, if the arrow doesn't break the first time used then you can fire it at something else still causing damage but increasing the likely hood that it breaks.
