Why Rated M?

My Dad wont let me play ark because its rated M. Hes fine with the extreme violence,Blood,and having people eat there crap, but hes worried theres some hidden detail they didnt put in The ESRB rating. help? Thanks everyone that helped. im leaving the thread because I cant change my parents mind Thanks anyway :D

There apparently are mating animations made and planned to be put into the game, but I think there will be a toggle for that, it's not in there yet, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Well, maybe you're late to the party, but everyone has lied to their parents sometime in their life. Try something like

"Nah, It's M rated because you can be devoured by dinos and stuff."

Ark is great for youth and educational . I have learned allot from ARK about dino's and the strive to survive in the times of dinosaurs . If you compare this game to what else is out there I would grade it PG and that is only because of some servers have users that use bad language .

I don't know where you got that from but there has never been any mention of mating animations being put in the game.

The rating is because of "intense violence and blood". The rating can't exclude anything "hidden".

In Australia the rating as M "horror", why I have no idea. (http://www.classification.gov.au)

Some might say the use of "narcotics" could be deemed a "rateable" issue.

The only "anxious" moment I might have as a parent is the online interactions. There is some utterly reprehensible commentary in the chat but if you're playing SP or family/friends server, shouldn't be an issue.

PS: Blood can also be turned down somewhat.

Just tell your dad why it's rated M, blood and violence. They can't keep game content out of the rating process, so there isn't anything hidden. Also, almost no games rate online interactions, so that would probably be the only thing not covered by the rating.

....not this again.. i find it astonishing that parents actually believe this crappy rates.. a few people that have no idea about games test something, see a few things and rate it according to that.. and who the hell came up with the idea to rate early access games? i mean they can 100% change with any further patch..

@OP if you really want this game you should check 2 things before:
1. Is your computer powerful enough?
2. Is your internet connection good enough? expect 200mb patches or bigger every few days, multiple times a week

After these points you should research a bit and write a nice list which you can show your parents that will show why you want this game so bad and that you can learn about some dinosaurs a bit, learn to play in a team and many other things. If you argue good enough and rational with your parents you'll be surprised what most parents will allow.

he is an authist because he wants to be honest with his parents? i find it a very mature decision, lying isn't the best choice you have. honesty and good arguments are way better

As a parent I understand their concern, BUT, other than some graphic violence and users who cuss, I don't see the issue unless you are preteen or younger. Maybe if your parent played the game themself they might change their mind. Parents should know whats in their kids games, this one is mild compared to many others out there!
