How to rollback my single player world?
A 104 alpha carno came close to my area so I got on my 140 spino with a 130 and 110 rex and thought I could take him. Lol no. I'm wondering if there's a way I can rollback the world to the most recent save point before that happened?

Look in "\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArksLocal" on whatever drive you installed it on.

There should be a "New Launch Backup" file and an "Anti corruption" file or something like that. Rename one of these to "TheIsland.ark" and it should put it back to the last save.

Yeah they were 90s pre-tame :P

Oh, that's handy info, thanks! Unfortunately it looks like my most recent save was 4 hours previous to the attack, which included my first quetz. So looks like I need to unlock the tombstone engram lol

Plus side, now you have an excuse to go out and kibble tame some 150's :steamhappy:

True :steamhappy: I should probably get a few more scropions and argies :P

alt-f4 can be your friend in single player when something like this happens...
Greygor Aug 14, 2016 @ 1:17pm
Yeah I got into a Alpha Raptor Fight because I had no idea what the red glow was :steamhappy:

So respawned, took my raft and set up camp on herbivour iisland for a bit of levelling :steammocking:

I actually did alt-f4 it but apparently it saved anyway.

Haha nice, I killed an alpha rex with lower leveled dinos than the carno killed but it was only level 5 or so. I tried to trap it in my stone taming boat... that was a mistake lol. Now I have some taming and boat building to do

I managed to kill an Alpha Rex with a Ptera once, took a lot of hit and runs for stamina XD

Having somewhat of a similar situation here myself, with one exception: The respective .bak files were made after the point to which I want to roll back. Could I rename one of the other files in the folder (like the one from 12:30 this morning, for example) the same way to achieve the same result?

Yes, all of those files with numbers in them are backups with the time and date stamped in them.

For example:

TheIsland_06.07.2016_05.43.52.ark is a back up that was made on the 6th day of the 7th month, 2016 at 5hours 43minutes 52 seconds gmt.

Just choose the one you want and rename it TheIsland.ark

Awesome, thanks.

How does it decide when to create a file? Is it every time the game closes or you return to the main menu? Not sure if I've missed a force save button somewhere

If remember correctly the game saves every 15 min. (could be 30) If wrong someone will correct me. Lol But you could always use console command "Saveworld" before a big fight ...and yes it saves everytime you close or return to main menu
