thing is...big fish like the one i was trying to catch (sabertooth salmon, lvl20, 3.1x) wont even smell bait. I have spent half day, whole night, whole next day trying to catch it...i think it pass 1000 times 1cm from bait but nothing. I kill all other small fish that spawn so only that one stays but not even that help...it just don't go for bait. Is this new way to irritate players or what??

ya got same thing, max was 1.4, would be nice to know the limits and if they depend on rod quality

using blood and rod was green with about 160%

You could always do what my tribemate and I did:

After about an hour and a half of trying to get this 3.0x salmon near our base to bite the hook, I got annoyed and jumped in the water with a sword (a dino would work too). I murdered every fish but the 3.0x. Once it was the only fish in range to interact with the bait, it took it. We didn't catch it (crappy rod at the time), but it totally works.

Just kill all the little fish and leave the big honker you want to catch alive.

You *might* be able to catch a big fish with a rod like that, but you'll have to be on point and on time for the QTE. We were fighting that big salmon with 371% mastercraft rods.

i was useing a ascended what ever rod "was tribe mates" and useing blood. biggest i could get hit line was a 0.8 was 1.2-1.8 fish right ON bait but wouldnt take it.would swim fast to it..... then stop and turn away. they did more times then i cuold keep track of.

So i have no idea how to get the big fish. going to try sap today

i was under the impression that blood only attracts the samon, and bite fish, where the sap kinda was good on everything but not as good. Best i caught so far was 1.4 but that was befor they nerphed it now highest i caught is 1.1 i keep trying cuss i think im gunna get bps like i did day one so far just crafting mats and pearls which is nice to have them but im level 82 outside of dinos or them adding the tech level not much they do me.

I have heard you can get them in yellow and red beacon drops. I haven't gone looking for them yet so i can't confirm this, but it makes sense. This probably applies to cave drops too, and maybe even deep sea loot crates.

they should bring out an advanced rod to catch ichys and plesi :D, just kidding, to catch fishes 2.0+..

From yellow and red loot crates (surface ones). Can confirm yellow drop does drop them, got a ramshackle from it today (ver 245.93).
