Also if you keep crafting things to tame more dinos, for example, you'll keep leveling and unlocking new things to progress on the game such as the saddles for the dinos you want
I hope this will help you;)
frist befor i give you what im doing let me ask
are you a solo player( play by yourself or play with your friends in a clan)
after that are you on a live server, server hosted not by you.
now around level 30 the best thing to really do is try to get to higher levels as fast as you can i tend to find it easyer if i have somthing kinda tanky and farm on dead island( carno island big island in the north East that has mostly prediators, Direbear with at least 4k hp should do fine there it also shouldnt take you to long to find a direbear with about 2k health which i found mine around 115 level.
If this isnt to your taste you can always build a bigger base wooden Fondations are a great xp for the cost and if you live near beaver dams the cost is basicly dodge the angery guy/girl who isnt happy you poked around there den.
once you get about level 60 ish if your playing single player it might be the best time to think of getting somei bigger gates so you can have your pets move in and out easyer. if your on live server with other people maybe in vest in better deffence likei bigger walls more turrets.
now here comes the tricky part
when you get to about the level you unlock the scoba gear you can start diving in the sea for black pearls which you can use to get exp potions.
the alternative and some what safer mithid at the moment is fishing which seems to give you all kinds of blueprints regardless of your level.
So what now? You say get a direbear. So I guess that means tame a few more anklys, wait for the eggs, make kibble, tame a few carnos, get carno eggs, make kibble, then find a direbear. Or do you just tame the direbear with meat? how do you get the anklys to start laying eggs? Do I need to more the rest of the tames away from my base so the anklys start making eggs? Is there a trick im missing here or the process just takes a long while and you build things while you wait?
I started on ios, Ipad, I did really well never managed a Trex or anything but everything else I had down. I moved onto Pc and found it pure hell, Im still a beach bob but I'm prepping for a move. I found that I needed to focus less on taming and more on grafting, making sure I had the right stuff before I left to tame was essential rather than just bolting out the door.
Progression is down to crafting iv found, which can be quicker with a few dinos in toe which youll have since you're mid game, from which point youll begin to level up and gain more tools required for taming the bigger dinos. I also found useful to look up alot of guides on youtube, im playing mouseless (touchpad only) so found that traps would be the better option for me when it comes to taming.
There, you can usually find an Argy to lure towards your trike. Make sure to clear any relatively aggressive dinos around the area (and make sure you're closer to the forest than to the ocean because else you're likely to get attacked by a horde of creatures) and have the Argy aggro onto the trike. Shoot the Argy with tranqs and while it may be a bit of a pain if it flies away, generally if you've got good aim or patience you can shoot it down and get it KO'ed.
From there, tame the Argy and get the materials for a saddle for it. Once you've got an Argy, it becomes a lot easier to tame creatures as you can use the Argy to lure creatures to a spot where you can shoot arrows down at a creature and then chase after it when it starts running to get it KO'ed. Generally I try doing this method with Allosaurs as Allos are pretty good tames imo, but you can use this tactic for rexes, carnos, etc. (and it's especially easier if you set up a trap beforehand to lure creatures into so they can't escape when they panic run).
The general plan for me is:
>get trike
>use trike to get argy
>fly on argy to get to safety while shooting tranqs at dinos
>when dinos start to run, use argy to follow them and finish tranqing
>use this method on rexes, spinos, all the high-tier dinos you want tamed (save for, ofc, the annoying ones like gigas and quetzal's, all of which have their own strategies you can look up
>once you've gathered some high level creatures, especially rexes and theris, start breeding them for mutations (and colors!!)
>do boss fights, ascend, move onto next ark (at which point the strategy for me to survive becomes different but SE isn't that hard once you've got The Island down though the later Arks...yeah...)
I play SP boosted rates so this might not be viable information, but tbh it's not that hard to get an argy if you do the above w/ the trike and quetzals are...well...annoying but there are many strategies to grab one (a griffin helps if you're a single player) and once you have one quetzal, even a low level one, you can just use that quetzal to cage another, higher-level one to tame up. Kibble isn't generally an issue for me because boosted rates make that less of a problem but apparently a tip is to grab a pair of Yutys, an oviraptor, and make kibble out of Yuty eggs because I've heard that kibble works for all dinos? Can't verify it myself but it's a tip I heard somewhere else
