New Grinder

Ok, I guess I am dumb, but how does this thing work? Cannot get it to do anything (other than take a carload of mats to make). Did anyone get it working?

put gas in it, turn it on, and tell it to grind items. gives half materials back, saddles and armor included. i spawned in an ascendant rex saddle and it only gave me half materials for a primitive one, not sure if thats intended or what, but its better than nothing

It needs gasoline but there isn't a "turn on" option in its inventory like others. You need to face the grinder to turn it on.

WTF !!! I just spent a tonne of resources, prbly a RL week worth of solo farming to build this piece of ♥♥♥♥, now i can grind a mastercraft pachy saddle into 50 wood and 50 hide !!! WTF !!!
An ascend mosa platform saddle converts into 50 pearls, 50 metal and 50 cement paste .... are you joking me ??? have u seen the resources needed to craft it ?
FIX THIS PIECE OF ♥♥♥♥ GRINDER NOW !!!
(resources from grinding the stuff down might not be exact but pretty damn close, I am too furious to check / remember the actual value of garbage that i got from grinding down the saddles)

So after grinding up the first saddle and realizing it was broken, you decided to go ahead and grinmd another high end saddle? Kappa?

Have no need for those saddles, were just taking up space, wanted to test the grinder and the resources it gives from saddles, c4 remote and so on. At this rate i might recover it's cost if i grind everything i have for the next 10 RL years.

Even the wiki says: "The Industrial Grinder can be used to grind up many crafted items such as weapons, structures, and saddles. Doing so will return 1/4 the cost of each resource used to craft the item, rounded up, but capped at 50 of each item."

So it seems that the cap is intentional. And that's what makes the item useless. I COULD live with 1/4 of the materials without cap, even though 1/2 would be better. Just like demolishing a structure gives 1/2 back.

The problem is that the Grinder is useless due to an intentional cap on the items it returns. Compounding this is the fact that the Stone:Flint ratio is utter garbage.

2 Stone=1 Flint is horrible. The wood to Thatch is workable, I guess, I would use it if I had any reason at all to build the grinder, which I don't.

Probably best to use the industrial grinder mod. While it doesn't return resources from items like saddles, it is more useful when getting things like flint from stone and thatch from wood.

I would be happy getting 10% of the crafting resources back, then it would make grinding some found high level saddles actually useful. Cap of 50 units per resource is just pure GARBAGE and makes the grinder completely USELESS.

And yes, I am salty as hell spending 3200 metal , 2000 crystal , 800 paste , 600 poly and 600 oil to build this POS.
Might not play Ark for a while wasting all that time to farm and waste those resources (which is quite a while for a solo farmer).
