Calling IT Geeks :) Will Ark Run On A Windows Surface Book?
I'm too dumb to understand all this IT hardware stuff so I need to rely on the younger/smarter generation!

Will Ark run on a Windows Surface Pro? Will it run smoothly and with maximum gameplay?

The specs can be found in the link below.

Thanks

The GPU is going to be your performance killer big time. Neither the integrated 520 or 1Gb of VRAM on the nVidia card are going to be enough.

OK, thank you

You will have about 15 - 20 fps on very low settings.

Your comp is wholly inferior to be able to play the game, even in the lowest possible settings. Its a shame but thats the reality of it. Stick with the comp you were using for the last 2k hours, if you can, at the very least.

If you're looking to get a comp that can play Ark, dont go with a laptop due to reasons someone specified above.

Thanks for the comment. Ill be completely honest with you. Things are pretty easy for me at work and my tribe members asked if I could log into the game from work and activate my macro so that people can farm metal during the day, which is a pain in the ass to do solo.

I tried several other options, for example I installed Team Viewer but, for some reason when I start up ark (remotely from work PC) it just minimises. Maybe I will start a new thread for this, someone might be able to help

if it's not a gaming computer it won't play games, the only reason to have a powerful computer is gaming, so if the computer wasn't made for gaming then there's zero reason for it to have a $400 graphics card to jack up the price for no reason.

except that without a multi hundred dollar graphics card don't expect to be playing any modern games

I disagree I have a omen laptop Nvidia Gtx 975 m 4gbvram
16 gigs ddr4 ram 2700
6th gen i7 hw
2tb ssd
And I play ark on high /epic for 6-8 hours at a shot at around 40-50fps without temps even passing the 100 degree mark
At medium settings I'm capping 80-114 fps
Over 50fps in base areas rendering 100+ Dino's with 6k building structures

But all said and done on a surface pro you prob won't get anywhere near this as on a 1800 dollar gaming laptop

But surface notebooks are really good for animation editing and even have a Wacom like pressure stylus program
And anything you can do video editing on you can game on.
But most likely on low settings around the 20-30 fps mark

Depends on your ram and processor speed
Ark is not memory forgiving.

That couldn't be anymore untrue. Games are not the only type of software that use a graphics card. The "gaming" connotation used by computer manufacturers is cancer. They slap that term on any overpriced computer expecting uninformed people to buy them assuming they're good. There are "gaming" computers out there with graphics cards that are no more powerful than integrated.

Thanks for all the comments, I think I should stay away from the Surface Pro and just get a much cheaper laptop that will do the job better. I picked the surface because it was expensive and just assumed that more ££££ = better

Ding ding ding.. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Graphics and video cards are amazing for running a Vegas for video editing and maya for 3D animation
I use a Wacom Cintiq 2700
And an artisul tablet for running manga lab and photoshop and need a powerful graphics card and absolutely nothing to do with gaming ,I have a seperate rig and laptop for gaming as different hardware is required for max performance .
But any video editing pc can play games as it will have a decent dedicated gpu, a boatload of ram , and a multi core i5 or up 3 ghz processor for running multiple applications
So no graphics cards are not solely for gaming

The best piece of advice I could give to someone looking to purchase a computer for gaming is to research thoroughly before buying. There are common areas that manufacturers skimp on and the graphics card is one of them.

Ive got a Lenovo PC at home, I went to local computer store and the Manager was addicted to Ark - he gave me 25% off the PC and told me to turn up all settings to epic. It works absolutely beautifully.

Nice! Had a Lenovo y50 and y70 and always liked em very much
Lenovo makes a good product but is often underrated .
Hope you have as much fun playing ark as the rest of us!
Believe me 300-600 hours played flies by fast
