They won't break apart when one of them gets destroyed in the line, they just float there indefinitely.
Most I think I've ever made at one time was around 60 I didn't run out. Can't say for sure, but I think you'll be fine. You can always add more reservoirs if you need.
Why is Stone useless? It does the same thing as metal, just doesn't look as pretty.
Cuz they get easily broken, even by wild dinos.
I've never had a wild dino break them.
I broke them by trying to stab a Trilobite that was sitting right in front of it with my Pike. And this was too much for the poor pipe *ggg*

Test it out and cook one kibble and see how much water is lost.
It's a bit expensive to test. I'm not sure where to place my ind. cooker yet. All that stuff is yet to be built, and much will depend on how many reservoirs I need. I will also be doing some greenhouse farming also.
You could just load up a single player save and admin spawn it in. Nobody will judge you if you're doing it in the name of science.
