Miles of piping
So here's the problem. I have a great base with a great view, but it's pretty far inland. My water reservoirs hold plenty of water for farming, but probably not for making lot's of kibble in the industrial cooker. My cooker then, is in a building attached to my water pen some distance away. The non-optimal part is that my dinos are in my base and lay eggs there. I have to either collect eggs and bring them waaay over to my water pen, or I have to lug many eggs at a time for ones I store at my base which entails going back and forth to my quetz waiting outside.

It would be better to have my industrial cooker in my base, which means I'll have to build a very long pipe. What are the issues with doing that? If someone breaks my pipe does it all fall down? Maybe I should incorporate a much larger bank of reservoirs?

Before I spend a lot of resources, I'd like some advice.

I have a bank of 12 reservoirs and once everything filled up I never seem to run out of water. It's much easier to maintain than building a large piping system.

Do you play PVE or PVP? Long pipe is not that much of a problem, except, that, for all other structures, you might not be able to place them near structures of other players. Every placed structure might have also an effect on the ressources respawning effect. If one part of your pipe is destroyed, it will not destroy the whole pipe long, but the water flow will be interrupted. I don't know, if other players also have that problem, but I learned, that I can hardly replace or renew the destroyed pipe. Last time this happened to me, I had to rebuild the whole part from the water till the broken part to have a connection again. But this may just happened due to my lack of experience in building pipes, I don't know.

Can you make, say 100 kibble in the industrial cooker without running out?

Build metal pipes, stone is useless.

They won't break apart when one of them gets destroyed in the line, they just float there indefinitely.

Most I think I've ever made at one time was around 60 I didn't run out. Can't say for sure, but I think you'll be fine. You can always add more reservoirs if you need.

Why is Stone useless? It does the same thing as metal, just doesn't look as pretty.

Cuz they get easily broken, even by wild dinos.

I've never had a wild dino break them.

I always use stone pipes and they never broke by wild Dinos
I broke them by trying to stab a Trilobite that was sitting right in front of it with my Pike. And this was too much for the poor pipe *ggg*

Does anyone know exactly how much water is used by the ind. cooker from the reservoirs per item cooked? Is it different for kibble than food or dye recipes? Maybe I can calculate how many reservoirs I need for 200 kibble.

Test it out and cook one kibble and see how much water is lost.

It's a bit expensive to test. I'm not sure where to place my ind. cooker yet. All that stuff is yet to be built, and much will depend on how many reservoirs I need. I will also be doing some greenhouse farming also.

You could just load up a single player save and admin spawn it in. Nobody will judge you if you're doing it in the name of science.

I have another question. Most of the stuff I'm looking about connecting an industrial cooker to reservoir tanks is saying that this doesn't work at all. Like you MUST use a water intake. Is this something that was fixed at some point?
