Raising a foundation.
Ok, I'm kind of spent here and don't know how to work this out. So I built a bridge, intended to go all the way out into the water to a water pen I'm meaning to build. Problem is that I am now trying to get a foundation to snap, either to the pillars I already built, or next to them, but... Somehow the foundation won't snap to anything but the absolute lowest point of the pillars. Which means that the elevator I also intended to go all the way up to said bridge, now won't. Because the elevator track snaps to the foundation, which in turn is too low into the ground.
The result...

Someone figured out how to raise foundations? I kinda know how to lower foundations when building a raft, reversing it doesn't seem to work. Please help.

Place a roof/ceiling piece just above were you want the foundation on the pillar, the then the foundation will 'clip' just below the roof/ceiling piece, then you can remove the roof/ceiling piece and you will have the foundation where you want it

Sometimes you have to do a few of these (and leave them) as you move up the pillar, once you have the one in the place you want, you can remove the others.

Use the Temp Building mod to figure out what works. It allows you to make paper versions of anything. It costs 1 thatch to make anything, like a foundation or pillar. Then you build with the paper stuff to see how it will all fit. If it works, then build it out of wood or stone or metal. Also all the recipes cost 0 engram points.

Use roof pieces.. extend far as possible, then build pillars down to the ground, then extend 2 more ceiling pieces. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks for all the help. I was able to raise it by snapping first one pillar to one of the adjacent foundations. Then I slapped a ceiling on top of it, followed by yet another pillar that protruded through the ceiling, which in turn caused a higher snap point to be created next to the existing foundations. Thanks again!
