"Harvesting" giant beaver dams

So I just bought the game and I'm setting up a camp in Hidden Lake in a single player game. I'm level 15, and a bunch of beavers are setting up dams right there in my front yard. I'm too low level to fight or tame them, but I could really use the wood. Is there any way to loot the dams without getting my ass kicked? Sneaking doesn't seem to work. Those fat bastards come barreling at me from half a map away if I so much as scratch my ass near a dam. Right now I just loot the dam, get killed, spawn at my bed 50 yards away and get the stuff off my dead body. It works, but it feels like an exploit and I'd rather play fair.

Very honorable, but I would recommend taming something fast (raptor saddle I think is 15) and then grab and go. Go far away till they de-aggro....but can only carry so much on a raptor.

try running quick to the dam and back to the woods. if you go far enough in the woods they wont follow you theyll go back into the dam

personally i would just chop a tree down, however in recent times after so many times of getting stuck in foundations for a variety of reasons i have taken a shine to cheat coded my construction parts. because i get stuck that often im going to be cheat coding them sooner than later anyway... so why bother !!

You can Bola beavers puts them in their place for like 30 seconds.Unlocks at lvl 10 or 15.

I would recommend, at your level, kiting them out of the area. Castoroides are not overly fast on land. Either kite them through a gate and circle back to shut it, or have them chase you through the "back entrance" in the direction of the river. That stretch twists and turns and they should have trouble getting getting back in a timely fashion.

Eventually you might want to consider setting up a beaver farm there to accumulate the rather valuable cementing paste as well as the wood you need now, and other valuable components.

Lure them away. They arent terribly fast (Ride a parasaur to ensure saftey) and go loot it. Once the return run off again.

Another Tactic, use bolas. Its holds them in place for 30 seconds.

Or (my personal favourite) get an army of dilos and dodos and other easy tames and use those. Makes for an entertaining fight.

Go naked and loot it. Then after dying go back and loot your body. They won't bother you then

Make the larger pen Near the pond. click on he beaver dam, run through door out other side, they all run in close the door Loot away. Beavers will be there to tame or kill easily. Later you can use it as a taming pen. they are like lemmings.

As soon as you can make a raft.. pull it up to the dam and have cpl boxes near the edge.. swap the wood into the boxes and take off before they get to you :) just another idea that worked for me
