Yeah I remember asking about this. Supposedly scope +tranq dart would be too OP in pvp. Just stealthy headshot tranq a guy and let him sleep, as opposed to shooting him multiple times to kill.
As far as "Too OP" Why does that make sense when you can get a Fab Sniper Rifle and pop him in the head 2-3 times really quick and it doesn't make a bit of difference? That's just my thinkings on it, but then again the devs don't always seem to make sense in their decision making.
Edit: Also, that's what fortitude is for as far as a player stat goes. If someone's that worried about being tranqed out then they should invest in Fortitude for PvP Servers. That's how that's "balanced" out in my opinion too.
1 tranq shot vs 3 fab sniper shot is still better than the fab sniper. And people might invest in fortitude alot but at the same time when someone has a mastercraft or ascendant longneck it pretty much cancels out the fortitude. That said, we now have riot gear that could handle those darts much better, so maybe a rebalance wouldnt be bad. Me personally only wanted to use it back when the quetzals just came out and I wanted to tranq em from the ground(which was pretty stupid
A rebalance wouldn't be bad IMO anyways since Riot Gear is now out too.
I don't have that much issue with "sway" from the rifle honestly. I jumped off of a mountain and parachuted down it tranqing a T-Rex all the way down from the parachute. It was a bit hard to plan trajectory from the rifle since I was higher up and moving while the target was too but once you figure out the variation it's not too bad. The scope just makes it easier to line up a shot from far off when standing still.
So if I wanted to tranq a spino down the river a ways and see how far my dart misses before I can line up the shot better it means less wasted darts and etc, but it is what it is.
I mean it least I get that much warning. Just wish I didn't have to waste 5-7 darts to line up shots super far off that much. That's quite a bit of metal and narcos if you're lower on the tier when you start making them. -shrug-
