chain bolas in PVE

Am i the only one having chain bolas only last like 3-4 seconds on wild dinos? My friend was flying our trash quetz (level 20 out of 120) and we were chasing down a higher lvl quetz.

fire Bola, hit, quetz drops, quetz lands, i fire a single arrow and the quetz starts moving again. less than 4 seconds and from wiki info its supposed to be like 15 seconds.

That seems crappy. Almost like you would need someone manning the bola and another ready with darts. Three people in total. And 15 seconds seems a little short of time to really do anything.

problem is we tried that :/ They seem to have an internal CD on how often they can be bolad, seems to be about 5 seconds after, which if you only have a 2 people opp going... well lets jsut say it was a pain XD

Ended up giving up on bola, destroyed the balista and just tranqed it out of the air... barely got it to land on land next to the river in redwiood biome

Have you considered doing a quetzal cage it's a lot easier to use, can do it solo and you get a perfect tame on the quetzal everytime

basically what you need to do is make a structure on back of your quetzal thats 4 wide, 3 long and 3 high wont be able to place enough to have it completely enclosed but will be fine as long as no 2x2 gaps once this is done find a quetzal and sprint into it so it glitches through structures wall and then immediatly press and hold X so you stop with it inside then can just get off your quetzal and tranq it recommend using a grappling hook as a safety line encase you get knocked off

on this instance my victim ended up blocking saddle part so had to demolish a couple of foundations to access my birds inventory but this is what happens when your successful

The chain bola only lasts 15 seconds compared to the 30 of the normal bola. Which makes no sense as the chain bola is a heavy duty version and should be even harder to get off a dino. 15 seconds isn't even long enough to make use of. You'd be better off not using it.

There's a screenshot of my old quetz cage before my server was wiped, fresh start and all, sorry the screenshot is a bit dark - I found that quetz near night time.

The floor is a 4x4 (3x4 foundations, two ceilings/ramps on the front by the driver seat). There are 8 windowframes and two ceilings in a 2x4 grid up, and 4 wooden dino gates. In the center of the platform is a pillar with 4 wooden ceilings, to prevent the quetzal from bumping you off when it's tranqed. One of the frontward ceilings is a hatchway and ladder for people to climb aboard (multiple small tribes on my server, and I was the only one with a quetz cage).

This build of the quetz cage kind of requires you to "scoop" the wild dino into the cage from below, but once it's in there, it's in there for good. Once it's tamed it just pops right out the back, ready to follow you home.

and it doesnt last 15 seconds that it supposed to. the moment the quetz enters 'flee' mode it breaks the ChBola



And that cage... its a monstrosity... i love it XD
