No crystal on the volcano?? The Island!

So I started a new game and am finally to the stage of needing crystal/oil etc! However I can't find any crystal on the volcano and oil/crystal seems very sparce in the snow biome too?? This has only happened since the latest patch as normally the volcano has crystal?? Whats going on I am finding it very very hard to find certain resources that are normally in abdunance on those areas.

Thanks anyone else got this issue?? I play single player so it can't just be harvested out.

Many of the oil rocks in the snow biome have a new look. The older ones are individal tall rocks that look like vertical piles - easy to spot from a distance. The new ones are much lower groups of 3 or 4 individual round black shiney rocks. Many are snow covered, so you have to look harder because they look like regular boulders until you get fairly close.

There is probably as much oil & crystal now as before... it's just spread over a larger area perhaps.

Thanks that explains it with the oil but still doesn't explain the fact that the entire volcano is missing all signs of crystal and has none on it! Had to take a risky trip and risk freezing to get crystal from the snow biome and its even rare and not nearly as much over there either! Its like all crystal has gone poof from the volcano! I know in the snow the crystal is a greyish color! Even looked for that on the volcano and nope none :( Couldn't even see any obsidion on the volcano either :( Haven't even seen any crystal on the metal mountain in the redwoods either! which is where I have been going with my spino for quick metal runs!

I do feel like volcano was missing those resources from last time I played as well.. But I can't confirm since I'm not home at the moment

MY volcano has crystal after the update. Have you checked around in the underbrush... maybe you got rats.

Yes I have checked around the underbrush and no crystal! No crystal in its usual location after the last updates on the volcano either! its totally missing same for obsidion from what I noticed! And I flew around it on my petra and walked to the areas that usually have those resources tucked in them nope nothing except metal and normal rocks

That, and I believe crystal and obsidian are the last resources to respawn... First Bushes, then trees, then rocks, then metal nodes, then obsidian, then crystal is the order I think.

Yes but I have very rare crystal in the snow! The volcano is totally missing them! I have even waited around for 5 minutes to see if it will spawn in as I have automatic respawning turned on! 0 and nope nothing

Wait. wait. I think All resources, everywhere, were respawned by the implementation of the new biome. that is why people were complaining about the rocks and trees respawning in the bases.
Is it possible you have a glitch that omitted crystal spawns?
Check the top of the "hill" on the island East of Southpaw in the South. It has crystal spawns on top. If there are none there, you may have a glitch re crystal.

If you need crystal use an anky and a quetz and go up to the snow biome or various mountains. I ended up gathering over 10k crystal doing it this way in my SP game. Which if you are playing SP mode, yea... Crystal spawns on the volcano are completely borked. They have been for ages now.

Ten thousand crystal? Jeeze, how high are your settings???? And how many trips with a high weight quetz to haul that crap back???

No, you're right Zergling - it's all just completely gone. I spent hours building a refinery on the NW island in Whitesky Peak to harvest the oil and crystal nodes there. It is now completely useless as it's just sitting on a totally barren rock. That whole area near the west coast between the obelisk and the snow biome border used to have crystal everywhere and now it's all gone. Oil nodes have been reduced by at least 95% in that area, too. And the crystal has totally disappeared from the volcano, along with probably 75% of the obsidian, making the refining base I built up there mostly pointless as well, except for metal. And this is after finding that about half a dozen of the dinos I had stored there to keep them safe were killed by new rocks. Typically awesome job on the update, wildcard...

Underwater caves still have crystal.. Sucks about the vocano, any word on fixing that? I have a Mojo Jojo base on top, and would really like crystal to finish the glass dome...

Glad to hear I am not alone when it comes to the crystal etc! Hmm going to make it difficult finishing my metal/greenhouse glass base when the time comes :( Going to take a lot right now I am placing it down first with wood :)
