Baby dodo died :'( Help
I've spend like a hour gathering stuff around the egg and when it finally hatched it died. I tried to feed him but it didn't let me put berries inside his inventory. Do they eat something special?

Also, they can't hold more than a few berries at a time. So if you were trying to drag a stack over, that could have also been an issue. The tiny critters can only hold a few berries at a time when they first start out, so you pretty much have to spam the button on the stack for the first little bit so they go over 1 bt 1.
THAT WAS MY MISTAKE
Thank you

Cancel the name right away and feed it any berry you have (except narco or stim of course) - they arn't picky when they're first born. They just want FOOD. :D

As a side note, I'll also mention that they will accept veggies as well as berries. Like I said, babies really arn't picky at the start. Berries are just easier to come by and (possibly) lighter? I never checked weight vs weight.

Sorry for your loss. May your next dodo chick have better luck!

The baby survived. Do I have to feed it constantly until it reaches the maturity?

you must feed it constantly till it hits the next level of maturity.. then it can eat from the food trough... it will still eat like crazy but you do not have to stuff the berries in its limited carry capacity. It will eat 40,000x its body weight in berries, like it has a black hole for a stomach.. over time it will reach full maturity where it suddenly eats 1 berry every half hour??

Grats, you have dodo that you raised from hatchling to adult..
DURING THIS TIME.. (s)he is going to want to "imprint" with you...
every 3-3.5 hours
might want to cuddle ( E )
might want to go on a walk ( T ) ( follows you around untill its done walking )
might want some random kibble ( like a dodo kibble, or a quetz kibble )
there is a brief pause between when it wants something, and when it starts loosing taming quality for you not giving it what it wants..
if you are lucky or prepared.. you will get each "need" in time and get an adult with 100% imprinting.. this gives it bonues to stats when ridden by the owner ( you dont ride dodo's unless you use cheat commands )
Grats you have raised a dodo, from egg to adult, and it got imprinting bonues, as well as a bonus when you ride it ( no saddle not happening )

NOW.. strap C4 to either it.. or yourself.. or both.. and detonate it.
OR name it something cute, and pray it doesnt fall through the ground one day to be lost in the "sea beneath the ground" and drown.
When it will reach the next level of maturity?
Depends on server settings.. it will visually show you it has matured, it will gain a new sub title..
mathmatically it is when its internal capacity is >10% of its total capacity.
here http://ark.gamepedia.com/Breeding instead of me typing everything from memory.. you can read all of this.

Enjoy, have fun, dont forget the C4.. it is the most important step they forget to mention :steamhappy:

Good luck breeding dodos -- they starve to death within seconds because they are so low level.

Devs need to resolve this so that common animals like dodos and dilos are actually fun to breed for beginners and low-level players. It's absolutely asanine that breeding requires a dedicated setup complete with air conditions and hatching rooms and chain gains of food gatherers.

My wife hatched and raised a baby dodo next to a fire place.. ( due to the location tempature we live in was ideal for dodo )
She then pointed a longneck at the mother and demanded that she lay more eggs for us..
she then accidentally shot the mother dodo in the head...
we got a new dodo female to replace the one we lost.. I named it "Gunshy" Gunshy lays 3x more eggs then the mother she killed or daughter dodo she raised..

strange huh?

Oops. Title said it died. I'm glad it didn't. When you check on it to give it care, if you keep your baby on idle, you may want to shuffle it around a bit, especially if you keep them on any kind of foundation. I noticed that the 'eating' animation can make some babies start to sink into the ground over a long period of time if they're not moved around from time to time. Sat with an argy chick for a few hours one day and watched her sink well up and beyond her ankles in flooring just by eating and pooping. It may not happen to everyone, I just wanted to share more of a heads-up / 'just in case' kind of thing.

Larger dinosaurs are easier to breed than dodos? Cool, because this dodo was just a part of my breeding practice

Perfect use for it.. test out how it works.. before you try something that requires an investment.
Unless you mate two 120 tamed dodos then the baby will have like 1 second buffer before it starves.

it gets stats from its parents ... what they had when you first knocked them out...
they do not have to be level 120 kibble tamed parents.
You DO have to get food in them asap.. depending on the species they have seconds before they starve and die.
Do not take the time to name them.. yet..
Do not take the time to admire how cure the small version with the oversized head is.. yet..
GET food in them, keep getting food in them..
ohh and have fun.
