Compost bin doesn't do anything

I have a compost bid. I put 100 thatch and filled the rest of the slots with poop. It's been sitting there a week, and nothing happens. Is there some trick to getting it to produce compost? I

3 poop + 50 thatch = 1 fertilizer. Maybe your bin is bugged, try with another?

Always either "replace it" or move the location then replace it. Sometimes areas on a map bug out and wont allow items to function there.

to clarify, you need 3 poops of the same size. 3 large, 3 small, 3 medium, 3 human. Can't have a variety of poops.

never had any issues using mixed sizes in compost bins

Size does not matter in the compost bins. I have mixed and matched all sizes and never had an issue. You can fit enough stuff into a bin to make two bags of compost. Generally, it should produce 1 bag per in game day. If that is not happening, I would try moving it somewhere else. Maybe try putting it on a wood or stone foundation.

As a side note, get a Dung Beetle if you can. Once you get their carrying capacity up a little, they are fertilizer making machines (oil too, but not as much).

yeah got 3 dung beetles with 18-20 weight each and amount of oil + fertiliser im getting is ridiculous though gave up trying to use large in them i just chuck stim berries in the phiomia and remote use them all to get a small mountain of crap so i can do something else

Is it sitting partially in water? That prevents some things from working, but without any indication.

I've always had to use the same sizes. i could put 3 large, 3 medium in a bin and be fine, but if i put 2 medium, 2 large, 2 small, nothing would happen.

"filled the rest of the slots with poop" have it so at least 1 slot is empty. If it's filled right up, it won't do anything.

Not true for my compost bins. I usually have it completely full and it still works.

Same here, fill it with poop of any size and at least 100 thatch. Works every time. I believe that you do have to keep the chunk loaded for it to work though, i.e. not wander too far away for any significant time. Like eggs, the c bins go into stasis when nobody is around. Isn't that true guys?

I do not think the bins go into stasis. The Dung Beetles do because they are like all your other tamed pets, but the bins are inanimate.

Did they patch that out of the game? I was always using different sizes without any problems
