Cant hear ppl talk in game

i have all sound ingame i just cant hear ppl talk. it works some times then it cuts out. i have tried alot of things and i cant seem to get it to work.. NEEDS HELP

Sounds like a bad lag on the server maybe? Do you see the microphone symbol on their heads, do you know they are trying to talk to you?

There is a option for the voice volume, try adjusting that.

When the server does its routine save (that annoying lag people refer to) then the voice will cut out and stop transmitting or recieving also.

tired all of that and its not server baced. like it will work then it cuts out.

How close are the people? The in game mic is very short distance bear in mind.

the server can be set up 2 ways for voice chat. the first is global so anyone can talk and anyone anywhere on the map will be able to hear. the second is local chat only. if another player is in your area, and they have to be fairly close to you, then you can hear them but if they are moving away from you the sound will fade and then cut out when they are out of range.

Verify your ark game cache. What is your connection speed maybe it is just ping or not enough bandwidth for the voice? Other than that no other ideas sorry.

ty for the info. i have done the cache and reinstalled the game aswell

iam having same issue, so no fix to that at all? we tried direct call last night and it worked fine, but still i have issue with hearing ppl, my mic works perfectly but i cant hear other ppl. i hear part from here and another from there, even iam standing next to ppl who are having conversation.

Go to the official forums, they have more technical members of their admin team checking the posts in tech support might be able to help you more.

I had to delete a file. "raptor" i believe it was called. that fixed it.

Can you please elaborate? Where is this file?

Your router or firewall ( windows) could be blocking the ports needed for voice chat. I don't know what ports are needed for the service for voice chat. Prob same ones that steam uses. And yes as ark server admin myself. I do know admins can change the voice option to be global or only when your in range of each other.

But I'd just recommend you use a voice program. Most ppl just use discord. It's free and pretty easy to setup. If not. Maybe see if can use steam voice or Skype or something like that.

Don't think Skype has push to talk. Discord has better option and great voice quality.
