Ark The Center: Too Difficult for Beginners
A couple of friends and I just started playing on The Center but we've been killed nearly 10 times in a row by lvl 100 carnos, lvl 95 Raptors, and other high lvl carnivores and it's making us not want to play the game. It is not fair to people just starting to play the game to have to face such high lvl dinos in such a high population when we are just starting.

The Center map is SUPPOSED to be difficult :)

Start on the eastern islands. The northern one has fewer carnivore spawns, but the southern one has a bay that you can build into that'll keep you away from the cliff-diving raptors.

just keep going, IT IS challenging, but thats why i like this map... and because of the ruins, they are nice places to build a base...
try to find a place with some beavers... they can protect you... and of course you can get tons of wood and other nice stuff with ease
try to get a sleepingback or bed afap...

Don't loot the beaver dams unless you're capable/prepared to kill the fluffy little guys. I've had Beavers chase me across the entire map on the vanilla map after looting a dam, lmao

This one time I saw a Carno and a Direbear walking around on the beach of the southern tropics

Yeah. They spawn on the highlands of the islands, but since wild dinos don't take fall damage, they tend to end up on the beach below. Avoid the carnos as best you can. The Direbears don't aggro unless you get within five to ten feet, so they're not really a problem.

I'd say a Direbear is crucial for a new tribe, even Dilos aggro onto Direbears (good job devs) and Direbears wreck just about anything, seen them kill Spino and even Alpha Raptors (it had a fair few levels on the Raptor though).

So monitor where the Direbear is and if anything aggros onto you, sprint past the bear (but not too close) and they'll switch to the bear and get rekt.

Spawn on North Tropical and be conservative with what you do. South Tropical is the second least dangerous but the difference between it and North tropical is big.

Personally I go South Tropical and just head to the north beach of the island. Its relatively safe except for some things as rex almost never go there. Alpha raptors will though if they spawn on the island. Also the eastern back side of South Tropical has a C shaped bay/inlet. If you build out on a tip of the C you'll have less space needed for building a wall(as the water acts as a decent wall to many of the aggressive dino ai to patch in to go around a wall... unless you aggro them of course.)

Near the C as well down at the bottom of the cliff are a few ore nodes(if no one has built there) so you can get metal easy enough without going up top the cliff where the metal and crystal spawn more plentifully. Raptors bears some times, scorps can spawn down there as well as carno or worse can come down from the top of the cliff(very rare but can happen).

Also, the bay in the C spawns tons of trilobites. Get some oxygen, or a mount with a good oxy stat and you can get plenty of chitin, and a good amount of oil for jerky.

Beginners should start off at the eastern tropical islands. The three middle jungle islands can be a bit more dangerous as they are home to a great variety of dangerous animals, from sabertooths to spinos, and with the bigger area there's a greater chance to encounter a rare giganotosaurus but it makes up for it with better access to higher tier resources and caves.

The western snow lands are a level of difficulty over that again, with dangerously low temperatures and even more dangerous direwolves and other nasties. The lava island might be the most dangerous part of the map, it is full of all sorts of carnivores. There is no place where you will not encounter carnos, t-rexes, or raptors anywhere on that island, except for in the two caves.

defianlty spawn on tropic island on the right of map or to the south

And high level raptors aren't really problem anymore. You can make bolas, trap them and get easy tame. Good pet to protect you.

Oh hell yeah. I came back to ARK after a few months and just ignored the bolas.

Don't do that. They make taming pteras and raptors a breeze.

I suggest to spawn in either the north or south tropical beach. These are areas are good for new people who are starting out. As everyone said, go to the tip of the lagoon (the C shape), build yourself a place there, and put a wall. Nothing will really bothers you there, unless you aggravated them.
