Dung Beetles not making fertilizer / oil?
We've run into something a bit distrubing since the waves of patches hit the game. Our dung beetles have been not producing fertilizer at the normal rate they should been. As in every time me or a tribe mate put feces in their inventory and log off for the day or night, only a couple of feces are converted to fetilizer / oil. In some cases they don't consume any feces at all despite repeatingly disable and re-enabling wander on them, versus the usaual routine of placing feces in their inventory and let them convert them overnight (real world time) to fertilizer the next day to collect.

Later we starting to conclude that beetles are not making fertilizer / oil when no one is around within render distance, this having to do with stasis or something. Because whenever a tribe member is around near our beetle farm, the beetles work normally as intended. But again this is us disabling and re-enable wandering peroidically; becoming an annoyance and a chor because it requires a tribe mate to force themselves to AFK in the game just to produce fertilizer and oil.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has run into this problem besides us?
If so please elaborate. Thanks.

Just like Dinos not pooping eggs when no one is near.

Do you have offline protection enabled? That 'pauses' everything.
I know egg laying and pooping only happens when someone is in range, maybe they did the same to dung beetles. (even tho is used to process everything when offline)

No we're in an official server island map.

I have OfflineDamagePrevention enabled.

Do you?

i have noticed that if dung beetles r in too small of an encloser and not moving they wont convert poop to fertilizer. i literally have a big area, probably laeger then needed and it makes more oil and fertilizer then i can handle. if its in a really small pen and not mving, chances r it wont make anything. i think the pen needs to be at least a 4x4 or something for them to work. But again this is only what i have seen with mine

You're wrong, beetles can't move when encumbered and can still make fertilizer. Some people put theirs inside a cage and theys till make fertilizer.

Like I said they won't make fertilizer when no player actor is around.

Your official server has no OfflineDamagePrevention?

Yeah I've noticed that too, in fact some times it doesn't matter if someone is online nearby for hours and hours, they'll keep wandering not converting anything. Sometimes disabling and reenabling wander will fix it, sometimes not. You really shouldn't have to do that to make it work though. I can live with them having to be out of stasis for it to work, but not having to keep fiddling with them over and over trying to get the process kick started.

@Blake: OfficialServer309 , As far as I know anyone can offline raid. So likely the server doesn't have that option enabled....(I don't play unofficial servers)

Interesting observation, we did added like 5 more beetles to the same pen, though slightly more crowded but still room for them to move, they still make fertilizer but only when someone is around rendering range. I'll try and experiment with making separate beetle pens to see and check.

Just set aggressive to aggressive, unclaimed them, give it few hit or attack a dodo or dinos then claim back.

I heard that you need to empty their inv, disable wander, enable again and fill with poop after some resets. Seems to work for me mostly. The aggresive suggestion above is I guess another approach which is working on snapping them out of buggy walking semi stasis

Yes, after each patch you need to take the stuff from theirs inventory, disable wandering, put the stuff again and enable wandering...

I have the same problem!
Flakk Gun May 12, 2017 @ 11:33am
Take the poop put of their inventory, disable wandering, enable wandering, put the poop back.

Its an old bug.
Diez May 12, 2017 @ 11:36am
Put human poop in them it should reset the bug and proceed like normal.
