Manta OP or Megladon under powered????
So knocked out a lvl 95 meg an when tamed it was lv140 got it 2 more levels both went into health was eating another meg and out of now where about 10-15 Mantas turn up ranging from level 50-100 an swamp an destroy my meg in seconds so as i see it there isno point to taming a meg may as well stick with a sarco as they can out run an get on the safety of a beach.

So are the Mantas currently op or are the Megs just to under powered?

ahh yes, 10-15 of one species able to kill a dino, totally a fair comparision

10-15 vs 1 sounds like a fight you'd lose on a megladon. They're low tier sea predators as far as the game is concerned.

I know 15 vs 1 is not a fair comparision what i was trying to say is the manta spawn op also why would a manta attack a Meg they don't normally attack them which seems wierd
In answer to the original question, mantas are definitely OP. A one-on-one fight between a manta and megalodon of equal level ought to go to the megalodon hands down, but it probably wouldn't. Generally speaking, the later into game development a creature was released, the more skewed its power is to higher-than-it-should-be. The devs are drunk on the instant-gratification nectar of perceived difficulty, and are happy to let power balance go by the wayside for now.

mantas are stupid right now, they are highly aggressive and they arent supposed to be. the point is taming a shark isnt supposed to aggro 10-15 mantas that ignore armor and wreck your face

there is no good reason to go in the water as things stand right now, you're as good as dead without a very fast ichthy mount

Agreed there is very little point in taming any thing sea based other than the larger marine creatures or my personly favorite the Sarco love that thing even against mantas as you can simply beach when they come at you.

i had a megaldon lvl 100 it lost to a lvl 29 manta so yes!!! They are op. And thier spawn rate are to fast, and they atack in grups most of the time, i lost 5 megaldons today to mantas spawn. I had them in a lake that led to the ocen, were i was keeping them the soundly a while grup of mantas spawned. Bye bye Megaldon`s in all i lost 12 megaldons to Mantas over they past days, my point is that they should buff Megaldons. I fell like they the clown of the sea now the only sea creature i fear now is mantas... i dont even feel like taming them any more :steamsalty:

The worst part about the ocean right now in my opinion is the ability for the mantas and ichys to swim straight up your ass and push your tame (they've done it to my plesi and my mega before) up out of the water where you can't move and proceed to kill your perfect 150 tame because you can't go anywhere or hit them.

I'm not sure how the mosa's bite range is (because they're not spawning on Center) but it's seems like the ocean is plesi/mosa or GTFO unless you're just running away from everything with an ichy. Megas are completely crap only doing around 130 damage per bite where plesis can easily get over 300

Force feeding is pretty much useless there too unless you stick 1000 raw meat on your tame before you leave because a stack of fish only heals 30 hp when a stack of normal raw gives 100 hp.

Then once you've figured all that out, you have to deal with the stupid derpy, overly tanky anglers when you get down there. THEN if you dodge all that and you're looking for crates you have to watch out for those tiny ass lobsters.

Currently taming a Meg and I've just died by mantas 2 times so far.. every time i go in the water to feed the Meg it seems like the mantas have multiplied... i've killed loads but they are still coming it makes no bloody sense at all.. I used to fear going into the water because of Megaldons but f**k them I fear the mantas WAY more.. and devs... thats not a good thing.. the count of mantas need to be lowered if they stay this overpowered then they need to be an extreamly rare spawn or you could just make them passive until attacked? either way the devs need to do something as currently i cant explore the deep seas :( Im not using an ichy thing... they just bug me to the point of hating them... continuously ramming me in the water i've died in water because of those dumb s**ts hundreds of times :(

1 lvl 120 manta killed my lvl 70 plesio and gave my two megas a good fight

Mantas are OP! On my world, lvl 68 and have full flak armor and a pike, crossbow so I can take them out if they are only 1-2. But when they team up into huge packs, they get too strong. It's sad that mantas stop me from going to the oceans. I'm lvl 68 and I do not have any water pets. Everytime I do try to get something like a Ichty or Megalodon, I get swarmed by huge packs of mantas. They are WAY too aggresive.

The devs really do love making the modern day look-alikes OP and the actual prehistoric creatures their clowns.
Blaze Aug 24, 2016 @ 6:10pm
The underwater biome is so full of creatures that aggro you for no reason that I prefer not to get into the water at all. It's too dangerous and most of the times you don't drop a bag, so it sucks.
