Be warned theres more than just a "debuff" in the swamp.....
Very unwelcome trickery by wildcard honestly. I almost just lost my 200 anky because I could not find out what was slowing draining his life. There was nowhere in the notes about MINI leechs that attach to your pets and slowly kill them untill you hold E to bring up the menu and select "remove leech" Dont let your dinos die to this garbage. Next time wildcard some more info would be nice..........because thats just ridiculous

I am sorry to hear your frustration my friend, but I read that the fever doesn't kill? Clearly I am wrong but I hope I am not?

You get a leech icon in the upper right of your dino hud next to the exauhstion and disease icons.

Nope, there was nothing at all, no text no icons of any kind anywhere.

I am sorry for your loss, but although there should have been a leech icon there was a post that warned about them. http://steamcommunity.com/app/346110/discussions/0/350532536099137937/ right below the picture titled "Nightmare in the Swamp" is a description on the leech and some info on how to deal with it.

There is a leech icon if one is attached to your dinos or to yourself. you remove them with fire. they drain your health as long as they are attached. After they are dead you may also have gotten the swamp feaver disease. This disease can be cured by lesser antidote or depending on your server settings will get removed after you died. the feaver itself doesn't drain your health and kill you. it is just a debuff that decreases your maximum health, stamina, weight, speed and so on

However, even if your Dinos come into contact with a diseased leech, they will not be infected. Dodos are the only other carriers for swamp fever now.

Umm, the leech dossier was released ages ago. It was in the 242 patch notes ages ago. Everyone knows about leeches. Its leeches that pass on the swamp fever.

He dident die but after 25mins of working on getting as much info, as fast as I can I figured it out when he was at 1k/6k sorry man but thats not what Im talking about, these are different those are the big leechs you kill for blood that are roughly the size of trilobites no where does it talk about "mini" leechs that attach to you and drain HP

As I said to Ayukyo thats the wrong one its not the giant leechs that give the fever these are different

Swamp fever is a 25% stat reduction.

Spinos and raptors can get swamp fever if latched onto by infected leeches. I think all dinos can get it.
Dodos can catch and pass swamp fever between humans and other dodos.

The swamp fever mechanic is one of those things where the idea is better than the doin'.

A brief list of gotchas:

1. Leeches that attach themselves to the player or a tame WILL kill the player/tame if not removed. Stand in a campfire, take the dmg, and remove 1 or more leeches. The brown leech carries the fever.
2. In theory, to remove swamp fever once contracted,( assuming you have the engram to learn the antidote @ lvl 20 ) you will need 5x leech blood, 10x rare flowers, and 10x rare mushrooms. All seemingly fine until you go to find leeches to kill and harvest their blood, but there are multiple problems:

a. very hard to find ( low spawn rate ) and when they attack, they always attacked me from behind. Because of that, I was unable to fend them off before they attach to my toon. In 2 hours, we found 6 leeches to kill and harvest their blood.

b. If they attach, note that a leech body is not left behind for harvest after removal. Therefore, in order to harvest any blood, you have to engage them before they attach to you - see a.

c. Each antidote is one use only. So, to heal a tribe of three would take a whole day in real time to get to, not like I have anything else to do in Ark or irl... smdh

Leaving the game until dev fixes this, pisses me off I was gullible enough to drop $30.00 for this..

What? You don't have a Trike to kill the leeches with. The AOE is insane.
bigshoulders Jun 4, 2016 @ 2:14pm
we do, didn't try it....hmmm. Whats the spawn rate like on your server...did you encounter enough to harvest?

Yea. They upped the spawn recently though, so that may have something to do with it. It depends on which update your playing in. V242.3 Has more leeches, less diseased leeches, and leeches drop more blood per leech.
