also you are going to want to make sure you kill it - it will chase you down almost forever if you dont, unless you can swim fast through shark and manta infested waters
it's unfortunate but there is not much information, and it's poorly organized, on the mods discussion page
For how large that mod is I am not surprised, but they should have some sort of FAQ for new users(and if they don't they should add one).
Not sure how they are configured to spawn since I only played it for a little while, but likely there is a very low chance any time a dodo spawns to be a gold dodo(like the alpha in regular Ark) so keep clearing the beach of dinos and maybe it will spawn?
honestly the best advice if you're looking for a golden and cant find one is kill all the dodos you actually can find, and then go back over your route
my first golden treats took me about 60 minutes of kiting one back and forth across the water with a longneck rifle and pteranadon
