Single player crop growth settings?
So I've started working on growing crops, but I've read that they are agonizingly slow in single player thanks to the game world not being persistent. I know how to change the setting from the wiki, but haven't been able to find any sort of recommended settings, though I know I don't want to use the quick crop mod as 5 min seems a little ridiculous.

Can anyone with experience suggest a value that isn't stupidly short or long?

Just calculate a value. If value 1 means Waiting 6 Hours for example value 2 would mean 3 Hours, 4-2hours, 6:1 Hour And so on. I think 5 seems to be Fine

Is 6 hours the starting time? The wiki says about 24 actual hours to grow from seed to fruiting.

Was just an example how to calculate. If Wiki says 24 Hours better use that. So a multiplier of 24 would mean 1 Hour Waitingtime

I just placed down twice as many crop plots. or even more if you;re in a hurry.

That doesn't do much for the inital wait time though. I do play a decent amount every day, but 24 hours would have me waiting at least 3 days before I got anything from the plots.

I forgot to ask, is 5 what you use? If so, how long does it take your crops to grow?

i play on a server so i don't really measure the time my crops need. i think i've set it to 10 on the server, not quite sure. it growned pretty just in my greenhouse
Bumping this during the day to see if there are any other opinions

Five minute grow time for those who can't stay online for hours and hours on end.

I mentioned right in the OP that that mod was going way too far for my tastes. I want crops to take time, but not days.

See if the ini can be changed then.

It can, crop growth is part of the configurable server settings in the game.ini. The issue isn't that I don't know *how* to do the change, but rather I'm unsure of *how much* to change it.

if the minimum value is 1 and thats 5 hours, then simply devide it by a fraction to yield a percentage into a decimal, considering the experience ive had growing crops in many games, even if i play all day i would like a yield every 15 -30 minutes, so ideally i would aim for 19 minutes as an average between the two, so

first configure he number into human terms
60/19 for hour over minute =3.15789473684 truncate to 2nd decimal because pico seconds are irrelevant here
3.15
then take that number and make it relevant to the minimum setting
5=1=x
x/3.15
0.31746031746
truncate to the third digits because half minutes are relevant here
0.317 becomes 6.34% of 5
that value (0.317) is fine for ark because it supports floating point numbers
input that value for the config and mark the it as read only via right click properties
or "chx 077" read write against the file in linux
and your good to go
