[Fixed] About wind turbines.
Hello, i play on official in Ragnarok and use wind turbine.
The problem is that i no really see less generator consumption.
The wind turbine is close to the generator but there is no link between them.
And they are separate by a roof.

And i read that if u press the H key you can see infos about wind.
I see temperatures and other informations but nothing about wind !
However, wind turbine is turning.

you need to connect them to the same wires. then you turn off the gen and see if the wires still have power. If they do then you can set the gen to auto activate if power is lost.

But also wind turbines only send power a short way from them selfs

My wind turbine is working ok and its electricity.
But now when generator is working because wind turbine is off the gen's electrical outlet is not more connected to the other devices (refrigerator etc...)
In fact the wind turbine's outlet is connected to devices and not generator's one !!!
I really need help plz !

You need to connect cable grids turbine and gen are on(cables you place, not the ones from the outlets to each other).

If gen and turbine are on different grids and normal cables won`t connect, place cables as close as you can, than use "Flexible Electrical Cable" to connect grids to each other in that spot.

Thx a lot for that, i will watch it closely.
You mean the cables that are connected from the outlet to the devices? (the black ones)
That was the main problem. When i connected the new outlet from the wind turbine, it removed other cables from devices to the generator's outlet.

Can someone explain me what he means by cables grid? I don't understand and i still have problems with this setup...

What I mean is:
You need to connect generator and turbine to the same cable. Not outlet cable, but the cable you craft and place.

If you have placed generator and turbine with different orientation, they will use diffrent block grids for placing connected cables(essentially, differently angled\rotated cables won`t connect).
Those cables will not be able to connect to each other without flexible cable, which is used to connect different grids.

Once you have connected everything together, you will not need separate outlets for gen and trubine, all outlets connected will use the same power source.

Ok, i took a screenshot of my electric setup:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2847262461

As you can see, the wind turbine cable comes from the roof by the red arrow.
The blue arrow is the (old) cable linked to the generator.
And the green arrow is the generator's outlet linked by the cable of the blue arrow.
The wind turbine's outlet is not visible on the screen and is below this level.

Of course i understood that you should have only one outlet for my setup.
But how i can organize it? Thx.

Do you think i have to put a cable linked between the generator & the wind turbine and all will be ok?

Make sure it's within 29 cable lengths (ie there isn't more than 29 cables connected between your turbine and whatever you want to power). Same applies to distance between turbine and generator if using the auto on feature of generators. Wind speed also will determine how often or not the turbine will provide power.
Chaka (FR) Aug 11, 2022 @ 7:03pm
Yes, widely within the "29 cable lenghts". The wind turbine on my picture is just above the roof.

Based on your earlier screen shot it's clear that you have 2 separate power networks. As others have suggested already you should connect the 2 separate networks into one single network. All power cables should be yellow indicating they have power in them.

The auto start of the generator is near useless as last i saw it wont auto shut off again. So you are best to either put your base in a 100% wind zone and never use a generator... Or use a generator and never use a turbine.

Wind maps for SE and RAG are on the wiki.
https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/Wind_Turbine_(Scorched_Earth)

All other maps are 100% wind across the entire map.

One exception is LostIsland. Wind is fine at day but off at night. I had some small bases there and connected cryofridges to the wind turbine. I thought that it is enough power to keep the cryopods alive. After a while I realized that it worked only correctly when I open the cryofridge every day and/or take out and put in the cryopods. After some time I replaced the windturbine completely with a generator, since then the cryofridges are loading the cryopods constantly and correctly.

Yes, i understood that i have to link with cable the two devices (generator and turbine).
But how i link themselves if they are not totally aligned? Just use a cable angled?
And for information i am in a zone on Ragnarok 50% or 100% wind. (lat 15 / long 70 around)

This is specifically why "flexible electrical cable" exists...

I done that:

Now i imagine it's ok. Do u have to let the generator turned on for the auto-mode works with the wind turbine?

I said earlier that it doesn't work fully automatically and not to bother with it.

It automatically turns on but will not turn off again.

Generators hooked up to wind turbines are really weird, forgot to mention, Most of the time they both run independantly of eachother, the Auto turn off has been bugged for ages (like 50% of this game apparently), Really just suggest that you use one or the other, Find somewhere with enough sustainable wind for constant power generation, Or just use gasoline.
