A good giga can kill any rex with no problems.
Its MUCH stronger.
Rex CAN have better HP After intense breeding but have way less damage.
But gigas cannot be used for bosses etc.
Also are MUCH harder to tame.

overall tek rexes are the best. yes the giga has more melee, but rexes will not kill you when they receive damage spike, and you can bring them to every boss.

What are the differences between tek Tyrranosaurus and simple?

No real difference.
Between a lvl 100 Rex and a lvl 100 Tex Rex the only difference is the appearance.
But Tex Rexes have lower spawn rates and a 20% higher spawn level.
Normal Rexes spawn levels are: 5, 10, 15 ... 150.
Tex Rexes spawn levels are: 6, 12, 18 ... 180.

tek max level is 180 vs the normal 150. that makes a perfect tame wild, lvl 269 vs 224. with a lucky stat distribution you can have quite strong starters. if you also breed them for mutations, they can be top dinos, eliminating the need to muck around with gigas.

Both tames have their places. Rexes are easier to tame, and make for very good general purpose boss fighters. They can also reach very high health with breeding, making them great for tanking damage in certain situations; I use a group of them to tank certain alpha brute hunt missions on Gen1 while I bleed them out with a thyla; I do this for the brutes that do enough damage to rage gigas.

Gigas are unmatched for raw damage output, making them good for Red/Purple drops on Extinction, Titan fights, and many of the missions on Gen 1/2. Their attacks also ignore the damage resistance some creatures have, like Rock Elementals or the new Steinbjorn mini boss on Fjordur.

You can't use a giga for most boss fights. Giga breeding is incredibly slow and boring. You can use a rex for some caves.

Combat with a giga is generally very boring. Due to how damage op they are. And how biting never risks them passing out, no matter how out of stamina they get from it. So the out of stamina effects get very annoying. Along with running being pretty much a no go, how fast the stamina runs out.

Giga level ups are very boring as your only real option is level melee. And because melee is the only worthwhile stat to increase, giga feel very clone-ish to each other. While a rex can be your way. High move speed, high carry weight, high stamina, etc

A tamed rex can beat its wild version easily. A tamed giga can lose to its wild version.

A giga egg and a rex egg make the same kibble, so the giga is incredibly space inefficient as an egg layer. As well as the giga eggs being very heavy.

Your tamed rex will never betray you, a tamed giga might.

If you didn't need a giga for extinction I would probably never raise gigas. Killing groups of enemies on others maps is not anything I struggle with. And finding level 145-150 gigas is a pain. On top of it a giga upon first sighting can walk out if spawn area quite easily and despawn before you even get back with your taming materials. Which happens a lot for me, specially with 100+ gigas.

Where as a rex can have a stone pillar trap, which is an ez gather in the moment. Giga needs metal which means going home.

Yeah giga rage is very rare these days on PVE; some of the alpha hunt missions on Gen 1/2, King Titan fight, and maybe bad luck on a purple drop would be the only way to really trigger it. It does happen a lot more often on PVP, given that you will have uber mutated gigas fighting each other.

Well the Giga in ARK is comically oversized and designed to be absurdly OP as a wild threat and a good primary PvP mount when tamed so if that's your interest then yeah, Giga dominates.

Rex is better for more PvE stuff since it can and often is the go to creature for bosses and the tek cave.
A better fleshed out creature too thanks to it's TLC so it both looks and moves much cleaner than the very outdated Giga model/animations.

As far as what we know of the real life creatures though Rex and Giga were pretty much around the same size.
Giga was only slightly longer than Rex but had more weight to throw around.
Rex on the other hand decimates Giga in terms of bite force and had a far more developed set of teeth.
Rex also had a bigger brain than Giga and more advanced brain functions and senses so chances are Rex was a more intelligent predator than Giga too which should not be surprising since it had around 30 million years of evolution on the Giga as well.
So if you wanted to ask that "who would win in a fight" kinda question well it's a tossup really and frankly one we can't possibly know since they did not exist in the same time period thus never encountered one another.

Thus leading to the last Jurassic World movie..
That prologue they made with the fluffy Rex and Giga fighting 65 million years ago.. is easily the most laughably inaccurate thing ever put in a Jurassic movie.
In all honesty I was glad they cut it from the actual movie, but sadly I hear they've put it back in for the extended cut.
Ah well, it's still a cool scene if you can look past the obvious flaws with it.. but if you're a Jurassic fan then we've been doing that since the first movie anyway xD

idk man, i tried to giga some genesis 2 quests and EVERY friggin time that wild ferox boss attacks my giga, the giga rages and eats me. i think fall damage rage is fixed tho.

EDIT: lol i skipped the part where you also talked about the gen1/2 quests. yeah those were the points where i cryo'd my giga and just went with rexes

gigas cant fly: So dismount (E + 2x space) when seeing the ferox and kill him with commands. The Teksuit also has a afk-hovermode (hit 1x right shift while flying).

You dont need giga. I've done Alpha King Titan using tek rexes only. You need a lot of them, though.

I've tried using tek rexes in the high tier orbital drops and getting destroyed

I was gonna ask a question about Gigas myself, you sound like you're very familiar with it

can i ask what are good stats for a newly tamed Giga? also should I look for a max level one? coz i'm not even sure they exist. Highest i've seen is lvl 95 and these things are rare like only one spawn at a time in most maps, if any at all if there are too many dinos around.
and did I catch that right? only stat worth leveling is Damage?
