Ark is Shutting Down My PC
When I try to play ARK on official and unofficial, 1/2 the time it will shut down my computer, i'm unsure why due to my specs which are as follows --
2060 Nvidia Graphics card 6GB VMem
I-7 4Core 4790k 4.00GHZ
16GB DDR3 2400mhz Ram
900 Watt Power Supply
4tb hard drive HDD
Z97X-Gaming 7 mother board

The I-7 is a bit old but still lives up to every single other game just fine and the motherboard is a bit aged. Otherwise this PC runs every other game like an absolute unit. All of the software is fully updated and ARK isn't even on max settings and it still crashes. I've tried just about everything I know, except launch parameters because I don't know any that would fix this.
No blue screen, just a complete cut off and restart.
Any help on how to fix this would be great.

Your PSU is failing.

If your computer is shutting down it's a hardware issue. It could be the PSU failing as already suggested. Faulty memory can cause it also. First thing I would do is download memtest86 and test the memory. If it passes that, look into buying a new psu.

Nah Faulty RAM cause BSODs in 99% of cases.

Trust me OP, replace your PSU with a known good one and your issue will be sorted.

That's the issue, the power supply, the ram and gpu are all new, had the PSU for about a year, but the rest is new by days, yet I didn't have this issue with my 980 and 8gb of ram. I checked compatibility and everything checks out. I have a very good cooling system as well so it's not temps like i've seen in other posts

Wouldn't make since seeing that these ram cards are new by literal days and run everything else fine and passed the memtest. I haven't found a single thing to do this to my computer but ARK.

Actually, computer parts can be faulty on day 1, regardless of how new they are. RAM can be faulty within a short time of first use. But being said, it's definitely PSU. I've never heard of any other hardwares shutting down computers, and if they did, it's probably super rare.

I've seen it cause the computers to just turn off multiple times, trust me ram can do it also. I've also seen it cause more ctd's without any error messages than bsod's. PSU is more likely, but Memtest is a quick free and easy test, so there is absolutely no reason not to to test memory first just to rule it out.

They can be faulty when you get it, or they can go bad almost immediately as stated above. If memtest says it's fine, then definitely time for a new psu.

Except that if bad RAM was to blame it would do it consistently and regularly, not just with 1 game.

Try using window mode (dont use borderless window) 1600 x 900 for me worked. i dont know why this is the only game that crash the pc(and yes i have check the error and it says it was the PSU Kernel-Power 41) on fullscreen and borderless the devs need to check what is going on. so give it a try maybe check if you can go high on the resolution.

could also be just overheating caused by a never cleaned CPU Fan.
could be the Mainboard giving up cause the RTX tries to pull PCIe Power beyond the Mainboards capability.

Most probably either Overheating or PSU tho.

the devs don't need to do anything there, the error literally told you what YOU need to do.
get a new PSU!

the thing is if i still get the same problem even with a new PSU i dont think is the PSU but sure that is the error that i get and you are right about "get a new PSU" but i just fixed my problem on changing to windowmode and resolution. so better check those before actually wasting money on a PSU that is not going to help no? check everything then if it doesnt work buy the PSU.

Check Event Viewer to find if there's any error at the point of shutdown. If there isn't one, it's very likely an hardware power issue. Everything points towards the PSU in this case - RAM usually throws a blue screen before shutdown (although in some rare cases it won't), and when overheating the pc usually shuts down and stays off. I've actually had this exact same issue some time ago (but on Conan Exiles specifically), and traced it down to a faulty PSU as well. Even with a reputable manufacturer, sometimes there are lemons here and there (Seasonic M12II Evo in my case).

Try to borrow a PSU from someone, see if the problem remains. You say it's a 900w one, but what brand and model is it? It's a common beginner mistake to pick a PSU that advertises big wattages, but in reality not only cannot deliver anywhere as close as that value, but also have zero internal filtering and protection. For a pc like yours (and I own a similar one - 4790 + 1070ti) a 500-550w PSU from a reputable manufacturer is more than enough.

the thing is if i still get the same problem even with a new PSU i dont think is the PSU but sure that is the error that i get and you are right about "get a new PSU" but i just fixed my problem on changing to windowmode and resolution. so better check those before actually wasting money on a PSU that is not going to help no? check everything then if it doesnt work buy the PSU.

You are just skirting around the problem there, by not putting the same amount of load through the PSU.

That is true. but if people dont have money for a PSU a good one. i think this can be a temporary solution for the problem until you get a new PSU.

but i really wanna know why the game is putting too much load on the PSU while on other games like GW2 i can have 300 players effects every where framedrops to 1FPS and it doesnt crash the pc maybe you can tell me more about it i will be happy to know

Different game, different way how it uses computer resources. Cant compare.
