Trying to tame mantis, hunger never drops
Pretty much as the title says. I got some deathworm horns and spent hours finding the highest level mantis I could. Put on my ghilli suit and bug spray, fed it the first horn, and all was well. Fed it the second horn, and the taming bar didnt move but it took the horn. After that its hunger never dropped even after 15 minutes. I attacked it and flew off out of render distance and came back to start over, as I had enough horns to try once more. Fed it the first horn, taming bar went up, but the hunger never dropped at all and I couldn't feed it another. Just said to wait until its hungry again.

How do I fix this? It is quite hard for me to get the horns currently and I put a LOT of effort into that attempted tame. Very upset.

Passive tames have always had this bug. It happens with monkeys, bigfoots and just about any passive tame animals. I honestly have never found a work around aside from finding a low level creature and using kibble for a faster tame with less feeding. Mantis have no kibble so I do not know what to tell you.

I've tamed 25ish over the last few weeks( to get eggs... as if they lay eggs... ), and had that happen a handful of times. Very annoying, and i never found a fix. Just killed it and moved on to the next one. :(

Cool. Guess ill have to wait till most of my group is on at once and try to find an alpha deathworm so I have plenty of horns to fail with. Took forever to find one that high of a level.

ive noticed that Mantis tames seem to fail if they attack ANY wild creature (and they seem to insta agro vultures) and it also fails if they harvest/attack a wild body.

if you are doing an open area tame; make sure to clear EVERYTHING for those reasons. Also, I tend to feed bug repel to my Mount too, to help avoid accidental agro. And, ghille suit isn't necessary, the bug spray alone should suffice.

its also possible to trap them in a 2x1 box. IMO, its easier to ramp one side and kite them in rather than try to place the last few walls while they stand on it. You have to replace all of the walls, but once you do that and get out of render distance, it should reset and you can peacefully tame it when you return.
