how do the dinosaurs detect the player
I'd like to know if i can use stealth and hide in bushes to avoid the dinosaurs, like how does their detection work, is there an invisible beam coming out of their eyes that scans for food i.e. player and other dino's or does it depend on radius to player, and do bushes reduce the detection percentage.

Wearing a full set of ghillie and going prone will allow you to pretty much crawl up and touch any dino. while crouching is less effective it still keeps you fairly hidden. standing isnt very goood for stealth. not wearing ghillie youre most likely to get spotted right away.

He didn't ask how can you reduce the aggro range...

OP I think it's just a radius around a dino (diff for each species). Rocks, bushes or any other object that would block their sight does not matter.
Hiding in bushes or behind rocks is not coded in the game unfortunately.

There have been a few times during my game play where it appeared that solid/physical obstructions would reduce aggro range (such as being behind a large rock, or a small hill). This could be my imagination. However I have never experienced this with any type of vegetation, including large trees. Nevertheless, it appears dino aggro is almost purely visual based on being within a certain range. Being prone in ghillie reduces this visual detection range.

Hide in a bush if u want to..
An alpha will come from 300 yards away and bite your butt and drag you out the bush ..
I found this weird as there have been times raptors have repeatedly attacked my base for absolutely no reason .
And it was said Dino's do not randomly attack structures without being aggroed .
My best advice if you see something u can't handle ...run , even if it's halfway across the screen because chances are if you can see it it can see you

No you are all wrong....it's smell. There are no modern showers or Axe deodorant shower gel to keep us from stinking to high heaven......so......smell!

I just imagine raptors walking up to you base and saying "I can smell you" with Morgan Freeman's voice.

They can glitch slightly through a wall and they see you that way.

I think they can smell you and see you. Smell/see radius varies on each creature (terror bird > Dilophosaur )
