Are thorny dragons good taming mounts?

Just tamed one, and after some levelling I noticed that their spines only do 1 damage even after a 400% jump from where she was initially. Exactly how does their spine attack work? Is it worth giving this TD an attack lean for taming purposes?

Their spines deal torpor, and from what I have experienced they aren't good for taming. They are actually quite useless for me.

I once tried to use my lizard beaver to KO a stuck parasaur, after about 5 mins of counting to ten i thought "Eh screw it" and started spamming, and just by chance the thing actually passed out. It took bloody ages, i would tame a high lvl scorp trained with high melee for KOing stuff, and keep teh lizard beaver for hauling wood and mobile crafting. Also they cant hit animals that are small like jerboa, where as scorps do just fine.

Well thats dissapointing, I was mainly hyped for this creature because it could shoot tranquilizing spines. :/

i tried to knock out a jerboa and after hitting it with about 2 dozend of those projectiles I gave up

the over-distance attack seems to be entirely useless unless you wanna anger dinos from over distance

Actually their torpor damage is very very slow. I believe the debuff takes a full 5mins to expire. The debuff doesn't stack unfortunately, so hitting it once or 20 times in that period does seem to do anything besides refreshing the debuff timer. I do however believe that the debuff from multiple thornies does stack. I hit 5 while on my para mining and they actually knocked it out after ignoring them for about
