So, wyvern traps.. This thing keeps escaping when I'm a certain range away..
Is it meant to? It's perfectly sealed. Took forever to trap it. But after going off and doing my own thing, I came back to see a wyvern flying in the sky... it got out. Somehow. If they're MEANT to escape when you get out of range I'm not gonna bother trapping anymore haha, I play single/dedicated and there's not always a stream of players to just stay in range of it. Any info on this issue would be great, thanks!

Instead of making a cage, you should've set down a chain bola station, with a Club Mantis.

If you leave the area, they 'reset' and are free. Why did you leave the area? You trap it, knock it out, milk it then kill it. (you can only ever milk it once)

Why do you want to just leave it in the trap?

We use a trap and it's important that you do not leave the render area. You or a tribe mate has to be nearby, within the render distance of the trap structure.
The effect is instant, I've done it plenty of times. If you go out of render range of the structure then it becomes invisible and the wyvern flies free.

Yeah I got the milk from it after knocking it out. According to the wiki you can get milk from it every hour, so I planned on just keeping it in the trap for future use. Didn't know leaving the render area would set it free. Oh well I'm happy with one wyvern lol

Nope, the wiki is wrong, you can not get milk from it again a second time. We testing this way back and kept one for 6 hrs and each 2hrs we knocked it out and nothing after we looted it the first time. Just trap, milk, kill, repeat

What you read is about occasional milk from a "tamed" wyverns, not wild.

"Its possible to build cages in which to trap female Wyverns to make milking them easier. Be aware that re-knocking out a trapped female Wyvern does not give any more milk immediately. To obtain more milk if the female is trapped knock it out every hour for 5 more milk. "

Tamed female Wyverns will occasionally have milk in their inventory.
Can not be stored in a Refrigerator (since 246.3).

(The notes from the wiki) - Tamed wyverns will occasionally have milk in their inventory. That's the only "farm" I guess. You obviously won't need ot knock out your own wyvern to get it :)

You can milk it again in 1 hour.
