The most common thing mentioned these days is to grapple onto an argentavis, and having that one attack the quetzal so you can fire tranq arrows/darts at it.
I suggest you try to tame a really low level quetz with this method, then get a quetz platform saddle, build a cage and tame a high level with that method, it's much easier. I was trying to tame a level 16 quetz with the grappling method, took 70 darts, so bring a lot (missed shots, torpor drop). But this is the easiest way so far.
Enjoy your new quetz :)
Besides that. I'm thinking about having a few chests on the saddle, so I can bring tons of metal down. Does the chests and their inventory add up to the calculated weigth for the quetz?
Don't bother starting with a high level quetz. Get the lowest level one you can find (the lower the better) for easier KO and faster tame since you'll be taming in uncontrolled location. Put a platform saddle on that with a quetzal cage and use that one as your quetzal catcher for a high one.

I reverse it for a front catch rather than a rear catch. The rear catch requires you to line up and let the Q fly in. The front catch allows you to "scoop" the Q. I will try to get a screen of my modifiied version a little later. I changed a few things up for safety and convenience (such as using doorways, fences, and extra ceiling tiles in strategic places).
For 2 people it could. But I don't see it changing the solo tame.
Get under it fire,
Once it lands u got 30-40 seconds to place 4 foundations and alot of walls to seal that bugger to the ground.
Then you got all eternity to tranq it.
I'm not sure how usefull they will be for quetzal taming since the pilot will only be able to make use of weapons when the dino is latched onto a surface. It might work on the center but I doubt it will be usefull on the island. But outside of SP it should make quetz taming easier for sure since the passenger can still use weapons while in flight.
