Beaver and Stone dino, wandering, free supplies?

So I finally got a castoroide and a doedicurus roaming freely in my penned in area. It's clear of wood & stone. Are they still able to collect or get wood/stone as they wander? I don't want them roaming outside and get killed?

Been a couple days and no supplies added?

They need to be set to "wander" and the they need to wander next to wood / rocks. Also once their inventory reaches 50% weight they stop attempting to gather. Honestly, I've never found a reason to let them auto collect on their own as it's extremely inefficient and you also risk losing the dino.

and yah, my beaver got out and got in the middle of a fight! I saved it.

Oh... shoot, one time... I was flying, scouting around... and kept hearing the fight music wondering what was attacking me. Well I fly down to check out two Giganotosarus AND the music started up again. But they weren't attacking me. THEN I saw one of my beavers had been following me in the water!!! Yah, it died. Dang it! Forgot to disable follow.

btw if you don't have a beaver saddle, but you have an argent. Set the beaver to wander, pick it up with the argen and fly around near the base of the tree trunks and it should gather, though I don't think it will be any faster than gatherign by hand.

I don't have an argent yet. I've accepted that I just have to chop wood till I get 55th. I'm 50th now. I do have doedicurus with saddle. So I get stone. And thatch & berries with triceratop. And a sickle for fiber. So I'm almost there!
