Thanks for the info, Trigger! I was Google-searching Oil Zones and this thread popped up. I really appreciate the help!

There's also oil jug bugs, they look like the blue water jug bugs but black.

There's a lot of oil zones around the Green Obelisk, generally on the east part of the map. Especially on a plataeu with dead trees and dead animal skeletons (aka the location shown briefly during the trailer, with an oil pump and Green Obelisk in the background)

I'm not sure if harvest multipliers affect the yield, but so far all oil pump gives about 1 oil every 22-24 seconds.

So it's best to harvest every oil jugbug you see and use oil pump as a long term investment.
