Good starting locations?
Hey, I'm having a hard time finding a nice starting spot where there are few dangerous creatures plus both a lot of trees and water. Seems to be very few trees on this map.

Anyone have some tips?

We start off on South 1 and around that area there's a spot with 2 water veins relatively close to each other, flower field & trees, a patch of small cactus, and many rocks. The only thing you have to be mindful of are the ocassional raptors and very very rarely 1 carno would slide down the mountain and somehow ended up around there.

West 1 or 3 not sure which. its on teh beach next to teh ocean witthe red spire right behind you.

Also theres a lot of rounded water smoothed rocks in the area, most will yeild 1 or 2 metal ore to a stonepick

Thanks Windvally.

Yea I have found that location, but keep getting killed by Raptors and Sabretooths.

Teamkill - I meant on the new Scorched Earth map. It doesn't seem to have any starting point in the west.

Anyone else have any tips for a relatively safe starting location on the Scorched Earth map?

South 1 for sure. If you can make it over to the 60 Lat. 50 Lon. area, there are tons of very large flat rocks for building, three nearby water veins, tons of cacti, fields of silk flowers, and a lot of rocks. The area is very safe (i've seen maybe one or two raptors wander in) and we see oil and water bugs fly in all the time. Once you're able to get your hands on a decent mount or flier, there is a little mountain directly behind the area. It is FILLED with metal, obsidian, salt, sulfur, and crystal. It is also really safe. I have made a bunch of trips up the entire mountain path and have maybe run into one or two enemies. There is also a ramp leading down to a dried-up river, and if you travel along it, it won't be long until you find tons of metal along the riverbank and you'll also find tons of little pools with thousands of silica pearls. It really is an amazing spot.

Thank you so much Trigger.

Great tip. The area is very good, but not much wood. I guess there is very little wood on the Scorched Earth map in general. But yea the most important thing is not getting mauled by Sabretooths all the time.

No problem!

There is a bunch of wood very closeby along the mountainside. If you're in the area and you're facing the red obelisk, it should be to your left and it's a fairly short walk to get there. That being said, i've seen sabers, terror birds, and thorny dragons the deeper I go into that wooded area, so I would be really cautious. I've found that taming a Morellatops is a real life saver, and it's pretty easy in that area since they get caught on all the cacti and you can just boomerang it in the face until it goes down.

Thanks for all the info Trigger. Really helpful.

Yea the Morellatops is very helpful. It defends me well against Raptors. Does it stand any chance against Sabers or Thorny Dragons though?
