Why not get some people to play with you? It took me a few hours to stop dying too often since i was testing it alone too, its more fun with others after all :D
1. As soon as you start the game, go look for a water vein/pond/river
2. Berries add no water in SE and Cactus Sap does not match up with its item description.
3. It is best not to use Run action unless you are being chased or need to get to somewhere urgently.
4. Two most important things to unlock as soon as possible are tent and water well. Tent, especially, will save your lives during hours of Heat Wave. For armor, get to desert armor set asap. If you are lucky you might even find a full set of desert armor from supply drops early in the game.
5. Jerboas (Those super cute fox creatures) are easy tame. When they shake their head and ears repeatedly, there's a Heat Wave incoming. When they lower their head and make several sounds repeatedly, there's a Sand Storm incoming. When their tails stand up and point to the sky and their body is shaking, there's a Thunder Storm incoming.
6. Fortitude is actually very helpful stat on this map. If you are relatively less pvp focused, or if you are the support/ secondary fighters in your tribe, consider bumping fortitude to around 40-60. For my character, with 60 fortitude and a full desert armor set, I lose no health during Heat Waves and water drains slowly as well. I also bumped my water stat to 150 which actually worked well on this map.
7. Wells cannot be used to install pipes/intakes, so you will have to find an actual body of water for farming.
