Did you know everything in Scorched Earth is actually free?
Other than the map, almost everything in Scorched earth is for free. They just conveniently hid that unless you read the FAQ stickied at the top of the official forums

https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/85463-scorched-earth-technicaldetail-faq-ongoing/

"Scorched Earth Dino & Item codes
Here are the various Dino & Item codes for the Scorched Earth content. Even if you don't own Scorched Earth, you're welcome to spawn/add these to your server or non-ScorchedEarth game to try them out and add more variety. Have fun! "

And once they set up the dev kit assets properly, technically even that can/could be modded in for free by some wise modders....

"Modding Scorched Earth
1. The Scorched Earth content will be made available for Modding (as part of the main ARK Dev Kit) in a couple weeks. Gotta package it all up for a massive devkit update. In the meantime, as far as we know, existing Mods should work fine on Scorched Earth itself."

Until the dev kit update, then any modders can make the same or similar in a short matter of time. Hence its technically all free.

Except you can't legitimely acquire the new content, so no, it's not free.

Sycophants flying out of the woodwork.

Only 57% positive reviews says otherwise.

Man wildcard continues to impress. I hope they release another expansion soon so I can get that one too.

Go read the faq linked from the official forums and test it yourself. You can spawn in and set the engrams right now. Once the dev kit as they said and I quoted gets its update, every single thing the dlc offers you can have in and on a map of your customization.

Thus again: All Free.

Pay attention: its not just spawning in, you can set the engrams for your server for crafting purposes. You can also set your server for the spawning of the dinos as well if you so choose.

And most very importantly, again if you read, the ark dev kit will give 100% of the assets for the game whether you own the dlc or not so that modders can make their own maps and as well change do with the everything as they see fit.

That means 100% free everything they added for the dlc.

On the dlc itself, 82% of the reviews are positive.
When mods get their hands on it, they're going to release the content for people that don't have the expansion. That's pretty much a given.

It was at constant 71-72% before the DLC-release - so a 14-15% drop and counting. Sad, sad, sad but they get, what they deserve.

even more sad is the fact that what they really are getting is a but ton of money from the dlc being top seller.

Which is mostly from them giving it out for free to popular youtubers and streamers that have covered Ark quite a bit in the past. Hype train!

Yeah I defended them since the game launched telling myself its in alpha and its got good potential. This was a shoddy move by wildcard....

Granted they got sued in court recently for poaching staff from other companies and probably need the money.

If they waited until they finished the main game first, I would have happily bought the expansion.

However, screwing over its player base and releasing DLC for an unfinished product is disgraceful.

Lets be clear about this.

A suit was brought against them(Jeremy(head of Wildcard essentially) because he was a former employee of Trendy and broke their non competition clause. Not poaching of employees. The suit never went to trial. Jeremy settled out of court with Trendy to the tune of 40 million bucks.
