ARK: Survival Evolved

Scorched Earth Technical/Detail FAQ! (Ongoing)
Hey all,

With Scorched Earth released, there are a lot of technical questions about the various features of the new content on PC and Xbox. So without further ado, I'll be using this space as an info/note scratchpad for info about how Scorched Earth works, for power-users and generally curious Survivors. This thread will be updated constantly throughout the coming days, until it contains all the pertinent information. We'll leave game/content design questions for discussion elsewhere -- gotta keep this manageable ;)

For now, the data will be posted in this SurviveTheArk thread to enable me to write it faster, and once it's complete, will copy it all back here onto Steam:

Getting horrible FPS and screen freezing over and over even on the lowest graphic settings... this shouldn't be happening. =/ Wasn't happening before the expansion came out.

Thus we can justify games that just ask 60 bucks extra after release for the content
Oh wait the game is actually released in those cases...How would you feel if you made a deal where you'd get the complete game if you'd support it in early access, back it on Patreon or kickstarter then forced to pay 20 bucks for DLC of an unfinished game

Yeah diverting resources from the main game and team that's far behind schedule like the good little devs they are. Good little developers like the guys behind No mans Sky and Elite Dangerous (the guys who stated they didn't need to hold themselves to the promises made to the fans who bought the game)
They did force an 8GB update to all users with the DLC only UNLOCKING the content, thanks for showing you support not only day 0 DLC but also simply on disc DLC
All they're asking for is 20 more bucks, while the original deal was 20 bucks for the full game including all content up to the release NO mention of paid DLC before release
Now how about you get off your high horse, the people you call entitled mouth breathers are the ones who supported this game from the start "it's just X extra" that's X more then the deal was, how would you feel if you bought a game it forced you to download a massive update and suddenly you need to pay extra to access a part of the game you paid for before it was even released

Respect is earned and this action made them lose respect with anyone who actually stand by prinicple rathe rthen "yeah but I like them so they're excused" if we don't deserve it they can quit. they're not held hostage they aren't doing it out of love as is made clear by this action alone while way smaller companies release such thing before release for free.
"20 isn't much now days, and the devs are people too. I am sure they have families they need to support."
This is the lowest you can get in arguments and a pathetic one at it's core. Guess what other people too and there are thousands of others starving but you don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about them do you? Instead support a company with a game that's been on top of the steam sales list for months. Either they have incompetant management or this is a blatant moneygrab
Now get your head out of your ass and think rationally

I'm not going to spend all my time arguing with you. You don't seem to understand how the internet works. Every game that has online multiplayer requires you to have any and all DLC installed on the system even if you don't own it for compatibility reasons. The good news about it with ark is they are allowing people to make servers with custom spawns using the creatures in the dlc even if you don't own the dlc. you can also spawn them in if your a admin, but like I said before. Not many of them will be practical anywhere but the scorched earth map.

The game's original release date was suppose to be this month, they could release the game tomorrow and continue to add things to it like Minecraft and it wouldn't make a difference so the idea of the game not being finished is meanless really. I mean with the internet being a thing everything isn't technically finished. I know MMO's that still patch in weapons and quests.

It sounds to me your idea of what a video game is and what DLC is is rather dated and to be honest your not mad at the Devs of this game, your mad at the marketing team, which control what is free and what isn't and how much things will cost, when and where it will be sold etc.

This is also a Indie company so you can't compare it to big guys like Capcom, EA, Activision, whom don't actually need the ton of money but want to be higher in the stock bracket.

And as for No man's sky. The game showed everyone something that was never done before, it promised nothing it didn't give, and the community and fans got over hyped to the point that the game could've just been a CCTV camera into Heaven its self and people would still be dissapointed. No man's sky isn't the greatest game ever made, it's actually kinda boring but no one lied about it.
All of them having reached their full release, new quests and weapons that weren't blatantly cut out and put behind a paywall. All promised features delivered. A game is finished at that point anything that comes after is extra content or DLC

If this is a dated view gaming is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ if your view is the "correct" one

Who said I'm talking about the "big guys" I've supported Paradox Interactive since they were the small guys, the sales simply indicate a monkey with a wrench is controlling their finances if there's a need to release a 20 dollar DLC before the game is even released

Promised nothing it didn't give?
Except for multiplayer, ship combat with much more expanded control, interactions between factions, large scale war, animals impacting the enviroment, ship roles, renamable ships.
This thing that was never done before you could argue if Spore hadn't existed for a long time, even when talking about something this simple you couldn't be honest...tells a lot about you.
Today I attempted to repair my tent in SE. I had plenty of material and hit the "repair item" button. The sound effects happened, I even got a little bit of experience for it but the tent did not repair. I tried this twice with the same result.
Guys, this is a technical support thread not a complaint forum. please take it elsewhere, I've come here for technical help not for my notifications to be spammed with complaining like overprivledged rich snobs who think everything should be done one way, and one way only.

Now can someone please link to me a thread/forum or a link to write a support ticket so I can get it to the devs that there are people still spreading swamp sickness on SE servers and don't care about getting rid of it.
SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a shame. First release the Final Game. Dont ask for more money for DLC. I wont buy this game and i will tell all of my friends and family what a brazenness developer you are!

The level of vitriol in this thread is horrible to read. Guys, I too share your disappointment about recent developments, but there is no reason to be so rude and crass about it, calling the devs names and such. Let's keep it civil here...not only is that more mature and respectful, it also will be more likely to get us a response.

Jeremy, while Ark is not perfect, I have for some time had great respect for your team. You update pretty regularly, keep us fans in the loop and listen to our feedback, and the game you have made is very special. I'm not generally a fan of hardcore survival games, but I have taken to this one and recommended it to people. It has provided me with a lot of entertainment over a number of hours, and I thank you for that.

However, I'm afraid I must admit to being rather disappointed about developments with regard to Scorched Earth. May I respectfully ask: Is this DLC the reason why development on the main game has slowed in recent months, and why longstanding, borderline gamebreaking bugs (some which have been present for over a year, like the single player cave bug) have not been addressed?

That is how it appears from the outside, and sadly this impression (rightly or wrongly) leaves somewhat of a bad taste in the mouth. I greatly respect your work, and thank you for trying to bring us content, however it feels like this content was created at the expense of main game content which we were all looking forward to, which we had signed up for when we first bought the game. In honest terms, it kinda feels like a bit of a betrayal.

There is a rumor that this has been done because the studio is in financial difficulties. If this were the case, I'm sure a bit more openess and honesty about the situation would have been appreciated by the fanbase. I myself would have been prepared to pay a small amount for each of the upcoming dinosaurs in the main game had I known that the studio's future was in doubt, because the game has given me much entertainment and I want to give something back to you guys. And this solution would have been much cheaper to implement on your end too, because most of those models and animations are already completed in the dev kit. Alternatively, others have suggested a gradual increase of the price to new players as more content is added, which would also boost profits and secure the financial situation to some degree.

I have to admit that whatever the cause, this situation feels like it has been handled rather shoddily, and has caused a note of disappointment and shock throughout the fanbase. It seems that now what is done cannot be undone, but please, may we ask for a little more openess on the issue at hand, and some acknowledgement of the community's feelings on the matter?

Then this dude lays his smack down in kissbutt wording...get real, grow a pair

Lol.... you even defending no man's sky. No lies? Then why had they payback the money to a lot of customers? Check some reviews on youtube. My fav is angryjoe's. He shows what exactly that dev said before and what made it into the game out of it. Pretty funny.
As for your comment about ark... well dont want to say anything after knowing your thoughs about NMS
All you need to know about scorched earth.

1. Pay 2 win
2. Full of bugs and glitches
3. Released before even corpses falling through the map was fixed.
4. Caused ARK to drop to mostly negative reviews.
5. Was simply an excuse to make millions more before assuring anyone the final game would be released bug-free and on-time, which it will not.
After the update, I installed Scorched Earth. I am able to play Survival Evolved just fine, however with Scorched Earth, when I go to play a single player sesh, It goes through the loading screen and then instantly puts be back at the main menu? any advice/help?

DLC was epic, loved how hard it was starting up.

I agree with this. I even made it alot more challenging and started at Difficulty 28 (Max wild dino lvl 840) and that was super hard....died for like 2 hrs straight before i finally found a nice spot after dying to both the dinos and climate multiple times each.

Anyone find a resolution to the issue where your temp shoots up to like -2000 when your inside a closed room? Seems like it only happens when your inside a "Insulated room" thats sopose to protect you from weather. When you step outside, or even on the roof its gone.

Try restarting steam and check to see if it shows "Installed" when you click on ARK in your library and it shows the DLC. I had this issue aswell myself. Once i restarted steam it automatically started to download and after that i was able to play fine.

I gave that a couple tries. I says that it's status is "ready to play" and I can run the game just fine, however I still have the same issue where SE gets terminated and places me back at the menu. any other work arounds I should try? or shall I just wait for the next update?
